Linking to BDSM library stories

Okay- didn't see this question anywhere in the tech forum,
so how do you insert a link into your signature?

I've seen others with links to their stories in the library and want to do the same.

When I copy the address and paste it in and then try it, it brings me to a different page. I tried it a few times to be sure.

Also- how do I change the way the link reads so that instead of looking like an internet address, it can say"my stories" or whatever i want?

You type -

[U RL="http://www.bdsmlibrary.com and the rest of the address you wish for the link to go to]my stories or whatever[/URL]

but so the the first U RL does not have a gap between the letters - i.e. is [URL=

Hope this helps - if it does not make sense, send me a PM I can make the change in your signature for you; and then you will be able to copy the pattern in future.

General point - please note that whilst it is always fine to link to any page within this site, it is not acceptable to link to commercial sites or 'competitors'. If anyone is in doubt about whether it is acceptable to link to a particular site please ask one of the supermods or admins.

although i did finally get the copy and paste part to work anyway soon after i posted the question...

but what about making the link say something different, like - look at Rhabbi's or Tom's signatures... that's how i want mine to be, i don't want it to actually say: "http.. whatever", but "mari's stories" or something...

i see you put quotes and an extra [ in your post above.. .i tried to follow the format... but it didn't really work.

Mari, I have taken the liberty of going into your profile and changing it for you. You can now go there yourself and see exactly how it works, and obviously change it as you wish.

Your link is still broken. You'll need to take out a few characters after the URL=" part. It should have, within the quotes, http://www.bdsmlibrary.com/stories/author.php?authorid=2052

but it now seems instead to be
http://"http//www.bdsmlibrary.com/stories/author.php?authorid=2052

If you fix the second to look like the first, but keep the bit in the middle reading author.php?authorid= it will work.

Thank you, Clevernick- lol, no, I'm not in that predicament, nor have I ever been... but story ideas come to me from a small thing, and then I run with it... But I'm glad you found it creepy! I take that as a compliment, considering its content area.

Oh- and rhabbi caught the link error and helped me out, but thanks.
