View Full Version : So I'm back down south....

I was hoping to use that whole internet thing to find some like-minded people near me... But it seems I live in the wrong part of Louisiana. If I were in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, it seems I couldn't trip without falling on a collared sub.

However, I'm in Alexandria. Prowling the net has revealed two people from alt.com (no way in hell I'm paying, but if I get lonely enough I'll spoof alt and slip a mail through... quite a racket they have going on), and a Yahoo group which MAY be in the area, but is invite-only (insert bad joke about catch-22 bondage here).

So.... I've got two more options...

I can go to the local porn shop and ask around like a dumbass.

Or, I can do the same at a local "Leather, Iron, and Lace" shop which seems fairly large. I'm leaning towards stopping by the bondage shop later this week.

My question is, just how does one begin on such a road? I'm 19, male, and I'm walking around on a crutch, so I can already forsee problems with respect... Should I kick someone's ass the first day, prison style? (joking).
I prefer to expect the worst, so if anyone has any advice in case a heavyset militant butch lesbian gets angry at me for being male and dom at the same time, it'd be appreciated (again, I joke) That may not be required. There may be plenty of intelligent, open-minded people involved.

Long story short, how the hell do I get involved with the local kink community (if there is one) ?

As often as I repeat myself by answering this question, I am definitely giving it a home in the Dungeon when we get things going again.

What you are doing is right.

Check the local adult/fetish/toy shops in the area and look for flyers or alternative lifestyle papers with locations and dates of meetings of local societies. From there, you are guaranteed to meet a lot of like-minded people and it gives you a chance to get out there.

Take your time, don't come of as being desperate and don't worry about the leg. People will tend to overlook that. You will understand why when you attend your first play party or demonstration.

Just have fun and be confident.

I'm stopping by tommorow afternoon on my way home from school. I'll post the results here, boring though they may be.

No. The book from which the screenplay was adapted was set in the beautiful Cahulawassee River valley of Georgia.

The actual filming itself took place along the Chattooga River in Georgia.

(When will people ever learn the difference between rednecks and hillbillies?)

As a Georgian, I can testify that raping and humiliating sportsmen on fishing trips in the deep woods is a strictly *Georgian* custom-- not to be confused with Louisiana, which has customs like Mardi Gras instead.

Thanks!

Mardi Gras... what a sham that seems to be. This will be my first time being in-state while it goes down, so we'll see.

Now, I'm a redneck myself. I've got the driving and shooting skills to prove it. I'm not a hillbilly, I've never had thoughts of incest, or the glory of god, and I've never been a townie.

But hey, who cares?
(let the discussion on defining those stereotypes begin, because everyone thinks they're just a tad bit different...)

GW, how the hell do you deal with that traffic? I've driven through atlanta a dozen times, and each time its a horrible juggle between fourth and third gear just to hold my lane position and stay on I-20... Last time I went through was at night, and the ricers were out in force. Just how often do those idiots wrap themselves around stationary objects? civics should not exceed 75 mph...

Totally off-topic and I know it, but two points to make: (A) Take the bypass around Atlanta. Only fools and natives go through. (B) If you want a good Mardi Gras experience, try Mobile. The oldest and best Fat Tuesday in this hemisphere.

I really hope that by "ricer" you don't mean anyone who drives an import. I would hate to have to spill the import vs domestic argument into my bdsm forum...I really get enough of it on cardomain.com

Apparently I misunderstood. The name of the store is "Leather, Iron, and Lace".

Which refers to riding leathers, harley-davidsons, and a corner with frilly panties and nighties.

WHOOPS.

To make matters worse I think I disturbed some old lady. Well, she disturbed ME anyway. If you're going to run a sex shop, you want someone behind the counter who doesn't care. You want shady leroy, who's reading a book all night and only looks up to take your money and not make eye contact. You don't want some sweet little old lady assaulting people with "can i help you?" as they walk in the door.
(that's my opinion anyway. I live under a rock, y'know?)

"Errr, ahh, no. Just looking around, kinda new to the area" nervous as hell now that grandma has completely fucked the situation up and knocked me off balance with her showroom of motorcycles.

I mosey around the store, pretend to look at leather jackets, pretend to look at the harleys, poke my nose into the lingerie section. Frilly panties, frilly bras, a bunch of lacy nighties. Fuck, nothing even remotely interesting. It's rather quiet and dead in here, all three employees are wondering what the hell I'm doing there.

"We have oils, and lubricants" AHHH GO THE FUCK AWAY GRANNY. sweet little old women should not speak of such things! bleeding hell, I haven't blushed since I was in gradeschool and I REALLY don't want to start now. If she tries to sell me a pocket-pussy, i'm going to blush for the next HOUR. But hey, she started the conversation, I may as well try.
"you don't happen to have any ah, local? magazines or flyers or such?" I say, looking her in the eye to guage any reaction. Deer in headlights reaction, she shows me the playboys.
"Sorry ma'am, I seem to be in the wrong store" I leave, I get in my truck, resist urge to redline my way through traffic and leave clouds of smoke...

Guess I'll have to look up the "real" porn shop around here and pay them a visit. I really, REALLY hope that Alexandria has some kind of community, somewhere... because if it doesn't, I'm going to be driving to layfayette every weekend.

As for the "ricer" comment... What I was specifically referring to was a group of three asshats with green underglow kits. One was a hatchback civic, one was a prelude, and I have no idea what the other was because he blew by me first. The ass-end looked like a teggy, but I'm still not sure.

Ricer has nothing to do with import vs domestic. It has everything to do with 20-foot spoilers, millions of decals and stickers for parts the car does not have. Claiming that an FWD economy car is capable of racing anything but grocery carts. 5-inch exhaust tips that sound like the world is ending, even though the REST of the exhaust system is still a stock 1-inch pipe. K&N filterchargers which add 100HP, combined with the 200HP that "VTEC" sticker on the door gets them....

"All show and no go" is the common definition, right?
Now if Dodge would just stop giving them ammo with those SRT-4's... *shakes fist*

I drive a Mazda, I can't bag on imports. I bag on chevvies instead :P

I hope my fumbling forrays are at least mildly entertaining :P

Haha, ok that sounds good. I completely agree with you about the "all show, no go" crap.

I do drive a prelude, but it's pretty much stock and I don't have any crappy stickers or such on it.
