Question For The Mods About Word Censorship

Hi, I'm relatively new here. While I've most certainly read the rules, something occurred in one of my posts, that I have a question about.
In my post about the HBO show "Big Love", I was explaining about the show, and attempted to explain about an episode, and a well known sex performance enhancer pill, beginning with the letter V. I think we all know what that pill is, the performance enhancer for men. When I attempted to type the pill's full name, the letters for the name of the pill came up as ****** in my post. Is saying the name of a sex performance enhancer a banned or forbidden word in the BDSM forum? If so, I wasnt aware of such, and I apologize.
If a mod or someone who would know the answer to my question could post with an explanation, it would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am not a mod, but maybe any use of name brands is censored because it is seen as free advertising. Just my 2 cents....

Thanks. That was certainly not the point of my thread, to advertise. I was just trying to explain the name of an episode of a TV show, and to discuss the product used. I appreciate the feedback, and hopefully can get an explanation of why the pill with the letter V is a banned word.

I think it's because the forum has had problems with spammers advertising certain drugs. The begins-with-V drug isn't the only one; I got censorship stars in another post when I tried to write "so******t" to refer to a certain economic system.

That is exactly the reason----we were getting spammed to death by internet drug pushers and folks that wanted to advertise their commercial movie sites

since we started doing this the spam has dropped off ---not much use in posting ******** at ******** for*****************

most of the words censored have nothing to do with BDSM I know we have other topics but basicly this is a bdsm site ----and we have to do what we can to stop the spam

Well that's nifty that you can block certain words to deter spam. It kind of sucks for those of us that are trying to figure out what Natalie was referring to, but I got it now! But that's still cool that you have those settings to keep our community spam free

Rabbit, thanks for the reply. That's awful about internet drug pushers coming here. I can see your point about commercial movie sites having no place here.

I don't think that's what Rabbit meant. I believe he meant that words like said V drug and such were censored to keep out the spammers. We talk about TV and movies all the time. No harm there. =)
