Banning

Ok, call me a dunce...but why is it that over the past couple of months, people are getting banned left and right? What the heck is going on??
Any thread within the forums that has a few pages in it also contains a post or two from someone that's banned. What gives? Cegee...Benz....Isabeau....people that consistently posted, and I never saw anything "offensive" within their posts. There is a lot of banter back and forth between a handful of people that I can think of, and none of them have been banned. So what's going on? Has their been an increase in censorship that I should know about or what? IMO....something isn't right if someone is posting, and not 7 days later is listed as banned....

isabeau hasn't been banned, she changed her nick. With ceegee and benz..well. it was a chat ban that became, by default, applicable on the forums. an, eh, knotty issue, better ask an Admin if you want to know more (I have my knowledge from ceegee herself and from a Mod)

I would agree that the rules for banning could be made clearer however, and IMO it seems (from scrolling back a bit to the times before I joined) that a few years back, people got banned sometimes for doing story/RP material (here on the forum, not on the library pages proper) that would not merit a ban now (e.g. realistic rape and brutalizing seen as RP or fantasy, not as reality)

louise - what did isabeau change her nick to? It was babydoll - but she's not listed in the member's list, and her "isabeau" posts are marked Banned.

Dammit, you're right J. I hadn't noticed babydoll/isabeau had got kicked out! Now this is a mystery... - but I wouldn't advise anyone to be too overt in their research...

Yes, which is why I generally keep my nose out of it. Plus, I'm never around when these things happen anyway, so I'm basically clueless! (not a bad way to be sometimes, eh?)

I know moptop complained half-ironically she was never around when the heat cracked and the fist was hanging in the air on the forum, so she never knew any of it. ;)

bd/isabeau I thought was a pretty fun person here on the site, then it was like her joy was suddenly snuffed out for some reason. She left me one PM before she was banned, but I never did get a chance to help her. It would be nice to know why such a bubbly person was banned. We can use more personalities like hers.

I felt ceegee was similar that way in her enthusiasm and yet she got banned too, if I recall correctly another bubbly person was Red (she was banned from the chat not the forms so what default?), though she hasn't been banned her activity here certinaly has been cut back. Hmmm perhaps I am seeing a trend.

not every thing that causes a person to get banned goes on in open forum ---sometimes PM or in chat can get you banned ----read the forum rules ---breaking any of them can result in banning ----most of the time a warning is issued ---but not always ---and no one is suppose to decuss another members infractions with other members ----

Banning here is usually a last resort ---with the exception of posting spam or flaming another member or staff member

Well no member has the right to know about anothers problem it is a privacy issue -----being fun is great but breaking forum rules get you banned ---and it is not always on the open forum that it occurs ----chat bans are on a case by case basis as chat rules are a bit different than forum rules ----just because you break a chat rule and get banned there does not automaticly mean you will get banned on the forum ----if the rule that was broken was serious and also breakes a forum rule ---yes you will get banned ---

with the exception of flaming or posting spam most members get a warning first ------

well since I have made it quite clear about each members right to privacy even banned members ----and the reasons will not be told ------I am going to close this thread as it serves no useful purpose
