There was a moment – a brief glimpse –
Of a laughter I craved.
There was an instant – a short flash –
Of a means to save or to be saved.
There was a brief exchange of minds
Followed by a sharp change
Of mind.
There was a moment; now, not a moment left.
A lovely interlude.
A prelude without suite.
A fugue without end.
It echoes around, but in another key;
And the key is in another’s hand.
