asphyxiation

Autoerotic asphyxiation, asphyxiophilia, or breath control play, is the practice of intentionally reducing the amount of oxygen to the brain during
sexual stimulation in order to heighten the received pleasure from orgasm.

catheterization

n medicine, a catheter is a tube that can be inserted into a body cavity, duct or vessel. Catheters thereby allow drainage or injection of fluids or access by surgical instruments. The process of inserting a catheter is catheterisation. In most uses a catheter is a thin, flexible tube: a "soft" catheter; in some uses, it is a larger, solid tube: a "hard" catheter.

dilation

What thread? Hate to give the wrong definition.... normally means something along the lines of something enlarging... such as the pupil of an eye or the cervix during child birth.

flogging

Flagellation is the act of whipping (Latin flagellum, "whip") the human body. Spe******ed implements for it include rods, switches and the cat-o-nine-tails. Typically, whipping is performed on unwilling subjects as a punishment; however, flagellation can also be submitted to willingly, or performed on oneself, in religious or sadomasochistic contexts.

gates of hell

A male chastity device, which normally consists of a series of steel rings connected by a leather strap. The largest metal ring goes over the balls and cock, while the cock alone goes into the other rings.

manacles & irons

restraint devices... such as hand cuffs, etc.

sensory deprivation

To have one or more of the five senses ~ touch, taste, sight, smell, hearing ~ restricted in some fashion. Blindfolds would be an example.

speculums

A speculum is a medical tool for investigating body cavities, with a form dependent on the body cavity for which it is designed.

spreader bars

A spreader bar is a physical restraint used in bondage play. It is a stiff bar typically two to three feet (sixty to ninety cm) long, though some can telescope to varying lengths, with attachment points for restraints at each end. They may include extra attachment points along their length for collars, suspension play, or as anchoring points for ropes or chains. Not all spreader bars, however, are designed to support the weight of a person.

stocks

Stocks are devices used since medieval times for public humiliation, corporal punishment, and torture. The stocks are similar to the pillory and the pranger, as each consists of large, hinged, wooden boards; the difference, however, is that when a person is placed in the stocks, their feet are locked in place, and sometimes as well their hands or head, or these may be chained. The victim is in a sitting position.

With stocks, boards are placed around the legs or the wrists, whereas in the pillory they are placed around the arms and neck and fixed to a pole, and the victim stands. However, the terms can be confused, and many people refer to the pillory as the stocks.

By the way people were chained to the pillory, and put in the stocks (most often outside the parish church) right up till the mid-19th century in many countries in Europe. It's not mainly a medieval thing.

This pic (also from Wikpedia, and a free photo) is of a German town pillory erected in the 16th century.

Manacles and irons: These consist of metal cuffs for the wrists and ankles. The cuffs are joined by a short chain. They are also known as shackles. Wrist shackles are not the same as handcuffs, which are used by law enforcement agents, but ankle shackles are also known as fetters. The manacles can be fastened with padlocks, screws or rivets. If they are riveted, she means business. I have a pair of wrist manacles and a pair of fetters. They are fastened with a screw.
