walking barefoot through this night,
only to tug at the sweet dewy promise of sleep

what was it that caused me to take up the scissors
and cut my hair,
only to change it from longer
to long?

which madness possessed,
like that of Shalott begged for a change
that that would be the quickest to satiate,
and the first to fade

i walk these halls not looking for sleep,
but watching my shadow ~
the body shows through the gown of night
to reflect in the candle light wash on the walls

ere ~ is it me who pulls the ribbon
and lets my hair fall free~
or is it he?

the vision of he who wakes me in the night
and pulls at the secret cords
so deep beneath my surface

was it me who put the petals
amid my sheets of scarlet fair ~
or was it he
who placed them there?

all my dreams fall into one,
the pulse of my throat roaring to be kissed
with the tip of your tongue

whose delicate touch drew a shiver to my skin ~
imagination, sore and wanting
the feel of hands on my hips

if you asked it of me i would come alive for you ~
just to feel your artists fingers on my body,
your hot breath in the closest of places

let me be your muse,
just for this night
and i would do your will

if i begged you to come
see me in this night,
would you?

~ could you save me,
just for this moment?
i am not a child begging,
but simply a woman overwrought

bring me the feelings that i long for,
bring me your yen that matches so perfectly my own

don't let it be
the imagination of me

let it be he,
just for this night
