Before.

Life was sweet before.
I knew the Light and Happiness.
I felt the sun when I was outside.
Life before was richer.

Now on the hottest of days
I can walk in the sun
I feel cold and dark
I see everything as if in shades of gray.

Gone is part of my heart
The beat is slowed and mellow.
Excitement a thing of the past
Gone but not forgotten

Memories cling like spider’s webs
Within the dark shadows of my mind.
Gently blowing in the emptiness
I have within

Now all things seem dark and cold
Alone and empty.
Life was sweet before.
I knew the light and happiness.
