I have a procrastination problem. I put things off until it looks like I won't have time to get them done, then I rush to finish. The thrill of pulling it off is addicting. Of course, the problem is if something comes up, I don't get done what needs doing.
My master and I have been working to fix this problem, and I've been making 3 step forwards, 2 steps back type progress. Slow and frustrating.
Well, lately it seems like we've made a break through. All week I did the things I was supposed to do when there was still a reasonable amount of time to do them. Then on Friday I completely rocked it. I got up when Sir did (he gets up crazy early) and started as soon as he left. I did all my studying, ran, did all my chores, and went to my class. I was done 2 whole hours before he was supposed to get home. And then he got home an hour and a half early! He was so surprised everything was done; he was so pleased he was giddy. Usually he's very calm and collected, but he was so excited he was tripping over himself, changing his mind about what he wanted to do with me. I'm still beaming. I feel all warm and fuzzy. Yay!
So I just wanted to share my happy triumph. Maybe someone else has a happy story to share?

Well done, Naomi!
I've had some luck with my wife's habit of biting her nails...whenever I see her doing it, I slap her hands...*wicked grin* even in public. She still does it when she's really stressed, but she has actual NAILS now!

Congrats! My bf is currently working on my problem of overeating. I don't always overeat, but sometimes he makes really yummy food and I try to eat everything he puts on my plate. This ends up with me having a very bad tummy ache. The process is down to me announcing when I am feeling full and him telling me to stop. Otherwise I just eat until I almost puke. I feel like a dog sometimes. lol

Congratulations on getting started on breaking a bad habit.
For me the hardest bad habit to break was smoking up to 5 packs of cigarettes a day.
For me the easiest bad habit I ever broke was smoking up to 5 packs of cigarettes a day.

Ha ha. Same with quitting procrastination, nail biting, overeating and everything else we'd all like to quit. It's staying with it that's the problem. Here's hoping for the best. . .
Thanks to everyone for the congratulations.

I've had some luck with my wife's habit of biting her nails...
My Dom is helping quit this habit, I have my bad days when I'm stressed. It is helping, I can put on nail polish, make them all pretty for him - and run them down his back :)
I also have the procrastination problem, he's helping with that too.
I'm such a mess *giggle* But having a Domly one helps a lot.
*procrastination cat will do it tomorrow*
I'll become a non-nail biting organized person, if it's the last thing he does ;)

I wanted to lose weight. The 1st thing Kane ordered was "No more pepsi! Only diet pop" Been almost a year and I still hate diet!
ok, this is an o/l relationship but it does affect my r/l

Do they make diet beer? OH yeah, that's that light shit I drink, isn't it?

Procrastination just makes itself feel so necessary sometimes. The cool thing though (as a master procrastinator) is when you do get into the habit of getting up early, going to the gym, paying all the bills, getting stuff DONE...you feel like a total rock star for managing to do the things other people just take as a matter of course. :)

I am laughing over here! Can I wear go-go boots?? If so, then count me in!
~tosses back my hair, holds my hand up in that way they do and says with a sexy smile~ I'm a rock star, baby!
~sighs~
The effect of that is completely lost in online translation.

Yeah, let's definitely plan on getting together and going over outfits and a play list...umm...sometime next week let's say? This week is just so busy, and this weekend I have people coming in from out of state...yeah, sometime next week I think will be best.

Hey, as long as I get to wear go-go boots, I'm there.
Enjoy the busy and your out of state guests. May neither over stay the welcome.

This is so true. Procrastination must be the the most fun to quit, because there are such awesome benefits. I am still rocking it and it is great. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up once the rockstar feeling wears off. Or maybe it never will. "Booya! Picked up the arthritis medication, cleaned my dentures, and fed all 20 cats ON TIME. Rock!"

Congratulations!!!, sometimes I wish I could procrastinate a bit, Im the complete opposite way, I have to do whatever task I have at hand, wether its from my owner or for school right away because it blocks out all other thoughts, and sometimes man, that stuff is time consuming ;)

Ooh, ooh! Can I be in the band? Pretty please? But not until I take singing lessons, learn how to dance, grow my hair six inches...wait, all those things have been on my to-do list for.......20 years now?! Yep, I'll be ready for the band - someday. :)
A rock star in my dreams,

Well, sure I could post a picture, WB, but it would be kind of embarrassing for me. See the thing is I'm usually sitting naked infront of the telly watching Opa when I do it...bite my nails that is... *gg*

One thing, tho... Have you ever considered that you might have ADD? I just realized I had it and it's taken me 38 years to figure out why I always procrastinated, among other things. It's especially hard for women to figure out because we're usually the inattentive type as opposed to the classic, boucing off the walls hyperactive type. A list of symptoms is:
Often does not give close attention to details or makes careless mistakes in schoolwork, work, or other activities.
Often has trouble keeping attention on tasks or play activities.
Often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly.
Often does not follow instructions and fails to finish schoolwork, chores, or duties in the workplace (not due to oppositional behavior or failure to understand instructions).
Often has trouble organizing activities.
Often avoids, dislikes, or doesn't want to do things that take a lot of mental effort for a long period of time (such as schoolwork or homework).
Often loses things needed for tasks and activities (e.g. toys, school assignments, pencils, books, or tools).
Is often easily distracted.
Is often forgetful in daily activities
Just a thought :)

Been there, done that... probably a hundred times (sneaks another American Spirit out of her "last pack") Hey, these are the healthy cigarettes! :4:

Interesting that some of you talk about your Dom helping w/ dieting/weight loss. That is usually such a sensitive subject w/ women. my Man kicked my ass when i was training for my blackbelt but since my test i've been a big slacker & have gained (choke, choke) 30 pounds. We talk about it as instructor/student but not as D/s. A spanking for those chocolate chip cookies beats the hell out of 50 push ups too!

Huh, I do all of those things but I always chaulked it up to my personality. I think I should look into this, can't hurt. I'm pretty sure the university I attend has free screening for that sort of thing. Thanks for the tip!
And thanks again to everyone who offered congrats. I'm still doing good with the not procrastinating, although I haven't rocked it as much as last Friday, I have hope.

Here are some online sources of info if you're interested:
Wikipedia (of course) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADHD_predominantly_inattentive
Dr. Amen's site - he's written a really good book on ADD. They also have a test you can take to help narrow down if you might have it
http://www.brainplace.com/bp/
...Uuuuuuuuhhhh... There's a couple other good sites I can't remember but I'll see if I can find them at work tomorrow. Also, the book "Scattered: How Attention Deficit Disorder Originates And What You Can Do About It" by Gabor Mate (http://ad.doubleclick.net/adi/N2335.Advertising.com/B2187653.30;sz=300x250;click=http://servedby.advertising.com/click/site=0000737383/bnum=31121110/mnum=0000440626/optn=64?trg=;ord=3517971875?) is excellent - I got a real "Ah HAH!" feeling from reading about his theory that people develop ADD because they tend to be more sensitive than other infants and they don't get their "attachment needs" (basically love hunger needs) met when they're infants. This leads to a deep, profound feeling of unworthiness and unlovability. Made so much better because we're always screwing up, ya know!
Anyway, hope this helps. Ever since I realized I have ADD, and feeling how much of my life I've wasted on this stupid thing, I'm a woman on a mission to reach others in my position.
Good luck! :)

... Ok, here are a couple other good sites:
www.adult-adhd.com
www.doreka.com/add
www.add.org
www.samgoldstein.com
The last is the website of a doctor who does a lot of work with ADHD in children and adults - you can find a lot of good articles on ADD in the articles section.
