p.s. passionate kissing is sex ;) - even a look can be sex imo
This made me think that many define "Sex" at different lines and levels. Some think if you don't have intercourse, you haven't had Sex. If you give a blow-job, that's not Sex and so on.
What's your line?

Mine is using hands and such. I didn't think that was sex before I did that, but honestly, if I'm in a play date and saying "no sex whatsoever" I'm meaning "in no way shape or form should you be touching mine or his genitals". I guess it's not SEX per se, but it's sexual contact, so it counts. At least, to me.

A very interesting question.
I am sure many layers exist for many people.
Like the guy in Pulp Fiction said: if it is something you wouldn't do with another man (provided you are a straight male) then it is probably sex.

What's your line?I have to go along with President Bill Clinton on this one. A blow job is close but no cigar I guess.

I like Kuskovian's answer too.
My question is, is masturbation, sex?

Hmmm what a question!!!heres the thing and I am sure I am going to get crucified for this one...hmmm crucifixtion..mmm...sorry..anyway, personally I think that any penetration is sex...finger or other object. However, that being said I think an emotional f*cking/emotional attachment is far worse then any physical could be....its just my humble opinion.

i dont think masturbation is sex ....they are too different things but i like all the answers so far. everyone has their own definitions of sex or what it is...in the bdsm lifestyle it is not about just having sex..there is many more layers to it.

Thats a good question...I dont have an answer for that one either.
Actually after thinking about this, masturbation usually ends in orgasm (unless Master says no). That being said just because an orgasm occurs it is not sex...I mean damn Ive had sex with a partner and not orgasmed, but it was still sex.
So no, masturbation is not sex and yes that is my final answer. IMHO.

Intimacy is the key for me...
... but that word requires defining too. ;)

Always when I was younger I had considered full penetration with a dick as sex. Then I began to read smut and realized there is a gaping hole in that definition.
A man can penetrate a woman, and a man can penetrate a man. I found my full penetration theory rather flawed though, as by that definition lesbian couple never have sex.
:dunno: I have yet to redefine my definition of what constitutes actual sex to my satisfaction.

I got thinking about what constitutes sexual assault. Sort of a back door approach to looking at what is sex. So per the Wikipedia
What constitutes a sexual assault is determined by the laws of the jurisdiction where the assault takes place, which vary considerably, and are influenced by local social and cultural attitudes.
It has been said that sexual assault includes rape, forced vaginal, anal or oral penetration, forced sexual intercourse, inappropriate touching, forced kissing, child molestation and the torture of the victim in a sexual manner.
We also say masturbation relieves sexual tension, so doesn't that make it a sexual activity. On the other hand, when I go for my annual Gyno exam and get asked if I have been sexually active, they don't want to know if I masturbate.
No answers, just food for thought.

There's sex and there's sexual. They are not the same, in my opinion.

Oh, good answer!!
Except, I think they are in the same vein and that if you are being sexual (that whole 'look' thing), then you are at some level engaging sex ;)
*no, in my definition; harmless flirting isn't sexual, just teasing sexual ;)
