For your second assignment, you have a choice.

Write a short story, a scene or a segment which will be a Story of a Whip or Confessions of a Whip if you like.

Objects are created or born; they live their lives, meet various people, have adventures and, eventually die. Sometimes they have great stories to tell.

Use first or third person narration.

No word limit.

Alternatively, you can write a short story, a scene or a segment with a following opening:

Laying naked among her discarded clothing, and floating in the heat at the point of no return, Crystal was not angry any more. The dead air conditioner or the late repairman did not matter now. What mattered was the new-discovered heat.

The doorbell rang.

Any genre. No word limit but let's stick to some reasonable neighborhood and not move into a big city.

Have fun.:)

Heck of a choice, both are not easy :) I'll think on it, need to get some idea for one of them and that will be it then :)

I am sure you will come up with something, :)

What's the point in easy assignments?

If you need to asky questions or additonal input, please do, just remember to ring twice. :icon176:

I got a question about the first one. Since I have not come up with anything on the second yet that I like, I might go for the first one, although it sounds harder.

Are you talking about objects in a general way, say you buy it, you use it, you give it to someone, it breaks and gets thrown away? Or is it more a sort of fantastic way you think about it, like they have feelings and thoughts, which they might even be able to express or communicate otherwise with the world around them?

was thinking in terms of a fable, told in the first person. "My name is so-and-so. Before I earned that name from Master X I was just a product, serial number 3430924 born in ... etc etc." Yes, feeling and thoughts

If that does not tickle your fancy you can write a story about one particular object, just telling us its story or using it to make any comments or observations you associate with the whip. If you want to generalize - you are welcome to it.
