Greetings to the group,
Firstly I wish to express my thanks to those who have sent me txt massages, emails and flowers since I have been absent from the chat room group
I am writing this to give you an insight of what has been going on in ‘The house of ***Kate***’
I also write this as a health warning to others out there that suffer from bad headaches.

This is my story this is what happened to me it does not mean that you do/will have that same
I have suffered very bad headaches for some years; on each visit to the doctor I was told different things from:
1..I need to be on blood pressure tablets (have low blood pressure so that was wrong)
2.. that I need to have lots of sex as it helps to reduce headache hormonally release. Smiles well sex was good but didn’t fix the headaches.
3.. and told its all in my head( well yes its in the head but its very real)
4.. I’m a hormonal female go away
Well last month and a half I was taken quite sick it came on quick while I was at work, it came so bad that I had to ring my daughter to come get me from work as I had lost vision and the use of my right arm. This was the first of many bad attacks that I have had over the past 6 weeks.
I was admitted to hospital as they thought that I had had a bleed in the brain or a stroke. After have a spinal tap done 45 mins to get it in and 7 needles (and no I am not in to needle play) and CAT scan done they said it was all clear and I sent me on my way. With a letter to, see a neurologist who ordered a MRI and MRA to be done, and another spinal tap
7days later still with the headache and contestant vomiting I went to have the spinal tap done, well that did not go to plan now I do know the risks of having these but the risk is worth it if they can get rid of the headache. So there I lay on the bed with more needles now being put in me that still have not healed from the last one. Bruise on bruise only to hear the words that you don’t want to hear.(Doctor) “oh not good” we have to stop I hit a blood vessel . so now I lay there sore bruised and now bleeding.
Anyway a week later I was booked in again to have the tap done under x-ray.
It is now day 21 since I saw the first doctor still in pain I go in and have what I thought would be the last of the spinal taps. They couldn’t get the first one in 4 goes at it so decide that they would go further up the spin 4 needles later they got what they needed . Taken back to recovery ward I thought ok I’m out of here in 3 hours. No such luck. When I went to move I had no feeling in my leg was dead as a door nail, so off to
The MRA ward for more x-rays (if you ever wondered what it would be like in a coffin go have a MRA done and you will get that feeling) another stay in the hospital and physio therapy I went home with the use of 95% of the right leg. Could walk just couldn’t feel a dam thing. It has returned to normal now. They have also found that I have a lump in my neck lucky it is only the lymph node that is swollen but it will now need to be removed as it is a hard lump and will not go down. its now weeks later and I was rushed back to hospital screaming in pain vomiting blood and I can tell you I thought that I was going to die I have never ever felt so much pain in my life

I have now been told that the MRA and MRI has shown that I have a small
Brain aneurism. So as a precaution they had to do another spinal tap. All though I did not want another one knowing what happened the last time I agreed and they inserted 4 more needles in to me before they finally got the fluid. The vein in my arms collapsed when they put an IV drip in so now I support two very bruised arms and a matching bruise on my back.
To cut this long story short the doctors have no idea what has caused the bad heads, It could be from the lump in the neck that is sending out the wrong signals to the brain when it swells as can be resting on what they call the vomit button in the base of the skull and the vomiting in return causes dehydration that then causes the headache as full circle then has occurred. So for now I am on a diet of caffeine have to have at least 16 coffees a day plus the 8 glasses of water. Not to sure what the caffeine is doing I think it’s to keep me hyper so that the blood runs faster. But the down side is now I have to have medication to help me sleep.
I will not know yet until I have seen the neurologist on what is going to happen about the aneurism from my understanding that they will monitor it and keep an eye on it to make sure that it don’t grow and burst (then what normally happens is stroke or death)
But again I will need to see the neurologist and speak with him as we need to know what the odds are if it is left there or if I want it removed. As my father had the same thing( he is now in a wheel chair and has very little speech and no use of his right side) I am not to happy that it be left there however in saying that the odds would have to be good for me to go have it removed.

So my warning to all is that if you do suffer from constant head ache please have it looked at it may be hormonally or blood pressure or many other reasons
But as I found out the hard way it may not be.
I will be ok and live for many years yet, it has also forced me to look in to other areas that I did not think that I would have to for a long time. You know the updating the will to make sure that not only would my children and grandchildren would be taken care of if any thing should happen (and I’m sure it wont) but I also had to make sure that my slaves would be taken care of in the event that anything happened.

**note** I am far from done with tormenting whipping flogging the slaves so I’m not going any where for many many years..

***Kate***

Sorry to hear that the diagnosing is proving to be as debilitating as the symptoms. Good wishes for you to make a complete recovery.

Hi Kate,

A word of caution on what they may be prescribing to help you sleep. I have a close friend who went through hell when she tried to stop taking the meds. Almost two years later and she still has withdrawal symptoms. She didn't work for one full year. If it is a benzodiazepine you may want to do some research.

There are several sites on the web that have information. Also note, the drug you are being given may be a benzo under a different trade name. Hope you are well soon.

Yikes. My best wishes to you, Kate.
As for the aneurysm: The sister of a friend of mine has one, it is not possible to remove it, and if it should burst, she could die at any given time. So if it is possible for you to have it removed, I would strongly advise you to get that done.

As for the "only in your head": Doctors can be such idiots. I used to joke about migraine ladies until I had one very severe attack. I think it was due to traumatic reasons, as my 8 month old nephew had just died of sudden infant´s death, and I never had another migraine headache ever since...
However - the pain grew constantly worse for the time of a week, I kept crying and womiting, could not eat, could not sleep for more than 15 minutes in a row, no painkillers helped, and I could not even locate the pain, for whenever I touched the hurting place, the pain jumped to another place, usually the exact opposite side of the head.
"It is only in your head" is about the LAST thing you want to hear in such a situation...

Yes, I got a CT, and yes, it feels like a coffin *shudders*.

Again, all my best wishes, and a speedy recovery in any way that is possible...

Hugs (yea yea I know).

I am sorry to hear of your troubles Kate - I was lucky. I too suffered from severe debilitating headaches for years and underwent cat scans and mri scans to no avail. They eventually found a calcified pituatry gland and underactive thyroid - treated the thyroid and my headaches are much better. I will need to keep taking the meds for the rest of my life and naturally they keep changing the dosage but I keep ticking along.

I really hope they manage to treat your anurism and you get better very quickly - we do miss you

The problem with a generic symptom like a headache is that it is difficult to diagnose the exact cause without other symptoms to give a clue. Glad you finally got the right diagnosis but so sorry it took so long and so much pain and rejection.
