Inside Out

I've been encouraged to post, it took me a little while to decide which one should go first, so I'm reflecting the current mood.

If I stand close enough and close my eyes

I feel I’m seeing myself inside.

My mind has an image, a smile and a wink.

The glow within is easy to feel.


But I open them slowly and a frown appears

Because what is inside is not real.

Before me is a form that just doesn’t match.

Those eyes catch my focus, searching for a glow.

The misty spread of the edges begins

The shimmering blue sparkles enticing me in.


The face in the mirror has fattened and creased

The body below it is scarred and neglected

Trickery starts with angles and poses

Items of fabric strategically placed

Glitter and gloss dusted and painted

My special things masking the truth

Clearing the mist

Attempting the glow.


Bringing the inside out, hiding below.
