Hi everyone! First, let me say, I'm not singling anyone out, and the views expressed here are just my own. (Although I have talked to others who agree.)

Writing in the forums.

I enjoy reading other's experiences, opinions, questions... but there are some that I don't. Why? Because it's not readable to me! Here are the things that lead me to skipping a post or a thread:

1. Writing using text message style. We don't have to pay by the word (or letter) here, so use real words!
2. Spelling. Some words are hard to spell, I know. I don't get wound up about misspelled words occasionally, but geez. Get the simple words right, please.
3. Density. When I see a long post with no separation into paragraphs, I usually skip it. My old eyes can't handle it!
4. Capitalization and punctuation. This goes along with density. A long post with no capitalization, no periods followed by a space to end sentences... yep, not gonna read it.

Please, please be kind to us! You put a lot of thought into what you want to say, spill your deepest secrets, fears, fantasies, thoughts... put some of that effort into how you write. Trust me, a lot more people will read what you have to say if you do.

Thanks, and have a wonderful day.

I like to consider myself a young lady still, and I can't read half the crap kids write nowadays. LOL We have spell check for a reason, use it! And it's really not that hard to use proper grammar, is it?

So, like you Jeanne, those things are also pet peeves of mine.

Thank you jeanne.
I want to add another thing that makes posts almost unreadable: Using very dark grey on a black background, or dark blue, or any other color that is rather dark.

And redhead? U p0wn :D ! But WTF is TISNF?

I tend to agree. Unfortunately, it still requires some understanding of the language. A spell checker alone can result in turning a sexy thought into garbage.

Case in point...

"His stair, from those pail, steal blew ayes, unsettled me."

And I was chided for being mean when I pointed out the difficulty I had reading the story.

Not everybody is using a computer. Some are using Cellphones.

Jeanne, I agree on a personal level with what you say. I love witty, concise, well argued and well written posts, but -
not everyone is capable of this, and some people obviously post from the heart and I love reading those too, despite the awkwardnesses. Some people on here are plainly dyslexic (I choose to believe.) Let's not give folks too much of a complex about their impulses to contribute - but I do agree, posting in dark colours on a grey background should be BANNED forthwith.

Pearlgem, all one needs to do is highlight the dark posts with the curser and, voila!

I, like others, tend to skip over poorly written and punctuated posts. But the lack of paragraphs is what really annoys the heck out of me, especially if it's a long-winded post.

denuseri seems to scream all her posts, but you know what? They are easily read with the more mature eye. lol

As for spelling one of my bigest peevs is peeps complaining about it

Especially when they go to the length of trying to be-little me in a private message over it. (yes some people have went so far as to do this, and my spell check doesnt work on here so, naaahhhh

I look after a large forum and this is one of our bug bears too- the number of people who write in txtspk is quite amazing and they do seem to get really quite hacked off when we ask them to write in proper English, with punctuation, capital letters, paragraphs and real words.

One of our reasons for asking this is because people don't like reading txtspk and posts are much easier to follow if there is grammar and presentation is done with care, but it also makes the site much more accessible to anyone with a sight disability too.

Screen readers don't work with txtspk or things written in abbreviations or acronyms, which means that all of our users with visual issues are unable to read sections of the forum which don't have proper English. Under the Disability Discrimination Act (over here in England anyway) we are obliged to make changes which allow the broadest access possible and we consider this to be as important as the content of the threads.

Hm. I never had a problem with denuŽs spelling.

I think it is because her mistakes are easy to read... and the other reason is that from her, unlike from some others, I always get the feeling she is trying her best, and not just not-giving-a-fuck about the readers / not bothering to check her writings after having slapped them down...
