Not from my perspective. Or at least, not bdsm alone. I think ALL sexual activity that is pursued for pleasure instead of procreation, (per the modern religions as taught by the fundamentalist leadership,) is about breaking the rules.

Any sex other than missionary position, baby making sex, is about breaking the rules. ;)

I think that it could be part of it. I must admit, there is something kinda delicious about the taboo aspect of some of the things we do. :)

I think it depends on what set of sexual rules you abide by.......

so my love of BDSM has nothing to do with "breaking the rules" ....
