It is coming your way!

Today I learned that when you drive for 4.5 hour's before your first break. CBT takes on a new meaning. It realy hurt when i got out of the bus and had to adjust my self in the middle of the lot. Guess you can add humiliation to that to. :(

LOL - "my tackle hurts more than yours, ner ner ner ner *sticking tongue out*" ROFL!

(sorry, that just really tickled my funny bone)

Anyway, moving swiftly on....

Today i learned that some films are infinitely more chilling the day after you watch them...i saw Open Water last night, i had a horrible uneasy, claustrophobic feeling all day *shudders*.

Not to put fresh diapers and onesies on the kids right before feeding them. It's redundant, because you just have to do it all over again after the meal (with the additional step of a bath). Especially if the meal in question was made with water or some type of fluid/liquid substance!
And on the subject of gonads: my husband learned yesterday not to give our toddler a sippy cup of ice water and then lie on the couch. My 2 1/2 year old unscrewed the lid on the sippy cup and dumped icecold water all over his privates. (he was wearing a terrycloth robe at the time, and it fell open.) Ice balls, anybody? :)

I started a new job on Monday. Today I went to take a some cheques to the bank, parking in a multi story car park.
Returning to the car park I could not find my car. I walked up and down the ramps searching until my feet hurt. The car park attendant came to help. After about half an hour we decided my car must have been stolen.
I rang work to let them know what was happening. Just as I got through to the boss and said Hello, my eyes came to rest on the works van. I had not come in my car at all! How do you tell the boss you phoned him for nothing without sounding like a complete idiot?
Today I learned to remember what I am driving!

Today I learned that Master IS psychic, beyond all doubt. I wrote an email to him whining about how we haven't played in weeks, then didn't send it and started working on some projects. No sooner was I puttering away happily (well, feeling better anyway) than he came home (at 11 a.m.!) Within minutes I was collared, on my knees and FINALLY being beaten silly.

I'm fully expecting him to walk on water sometime in October.

Unless the child in question is my daughter who is a neater eater than I am! (No comments from the peanut gallery)

And the first thing he does is reach for whatever's on the plate!! :)

I learned a lot yesterday. In fact, I learned too much to share. So, I learned that when the state comes into "assist", you are destined for piles of paperwork. Actually, I knew that, but geesh.

I also learned that my staff are correct when they compare my diplomacy skills to bullshit. I am sooooo good at both and it pays off. $$$$

This morning I learned that having cable tv in my room means Saturday morning is family time in mommy's bedroom. How cool is that? Two kids and a dog chilling out on a beautiful Saturday morning.

I also learned the value of friendship.

If I haven't learned something in a day, it has been wasted.

If I haven't learned something in a day, it has been wasted.

A lady I work with told me what her father used to say:

"If you haven't learned anything today, you haven't lived."

What did I learn today? Well once again it revolves around my daughter. She teaches me so much and she's only 1 1/2 years old.

Today I learned that your little ones like to "help" with the chores... if you can call it help.

I also learned that - God help me - I still love country music. (Waits for the comment from TG) It just has so many good memories behind it.

Altoids not sold in GB...that is too funny!

Quoted from the liner paper inside the Peppermint Altoids tin:

ALTOIDS, the Original Celebrated Curiously Strong
Peppermints, are specially formulated peppermint
lozenges many times stronger than ordinary mints. Their
curious strength comes from the generous use of real
peppermint oil, as prescribed in the original recipe
developed by Smith & Co. at the turn of the 19th century.

Established in 1780 during the reign of King George III,
Smith & Co. later became a part of Callard & Bowser, a
prestigious English confectioner founded in 1837. To this
day, Callard & Bowser continues to make ALTOIDS to
the original recipe developed more than 200 years ago.

Sounds about as English as it gets! lol

Nope, we have Fisherman's Friends here and it's not the same at all. Altoids are like little chalky white disks with nothing but a pure peppermint oil kick.

Ingredients: Sugar, Oil of Peppermint, Gum Arabic, Gelatin, Corn Syrup.

I know this isnt the most appealing example, but over here we have these little tablets of boric acid that we stick in cupboard corners and such to kill roaches and other bugs...if you guys know those over there, then Altoids look a LOT like those. lol

I am sorry for that. I to have an astranged family of sorts. My mothers side of the family. I have no contact with them at all. Of course my grand parents are no longer living. Yeah, it was...I made it myself! :)
It's not that they dislike me (My husband's mother being the exception) but they don't really care for me one way or the other. The only member I'm on speaking terms with is hubby's aunt, who is a librarian. She loves my (mainstream) writing.
Everybody else, while the're nice to me, they still don't think I'm in it for the long haul. Hubby's grandmother still declares every time she sees me that the only reason I married my hubby was so I could get my US citizenship! (even though I've explained to her that the days in which one could marry a US citizen and thereby gain citizenship automatically are waaaay gone, and the only way I could get citizenship now is by shelling out eight hundred dollars and two months of my time to attend English and civics classes I went through in elementary school!!) Grandmother doesn't like the fact that I have a green card, or that I'm Korean, or that I have no idea who my parents are because I was adopted. The family name, apparently, goes back a loooong time, back to the old country (Poland) and has a long and decorated history of service to the ruling families, and having a scion of the family marrying a bastard like me is bringing down the family name.
You know what bugs me about that whole thing? The fact that they do like me, they just can't get past the fact that I'm Korean and I have a green card. What I'm like underneath doesn't matter, the fact that my hubby loves me and I make him happy doesn't matter. If Hubby had married some snobbish rich white woman with a huge family tree and was perfectly miserable married to her they would be happier. That, more than anything else, gets to me.
Sorry, just rambling, ignore me... :o

Grandmother doesn't like the fact that I have a green card, or that I'm Korean, or that I have no idea who my parents are because I was adopted.

I don't like people without a sense of humor.
Life is too short to go around without a laugh; and an ability to laugh at oneself is a necessity. I agree with you there...hey, my mother in law doesn't have one either. She's made a big deal for the last month and a half about her upcoming 60th birthday, she wanted a big birthday party and lots of people. So we gave her the party yesterday and i gave her a card that said inside "Yippiee! I'm 60!"
She reads it and says, "Did you have to make such a big deal about my age?"
And she didn't understand why I laughed.

Now, today...
It's cute to blow raspberries on my 17-month old's tummy.

It's even cuter when the 17-month old learns to do it back. The grin when he finally got it was one of those heart-stopping mushy moments (anybody with kids will understand what I mean.)

It's not cute when he wants to do it again and again and again and again...and you have to get up and do something else, like cook dinner or do laundry.

Today I learned to not stop at Mcdonalds when in the posesion of the Debit Card. I had to use the Debit card to withdraw money from the bank accont. So I could get the report from the accident that I had on the 11th. So I had to borrow it from the Parental unit. (keeper of the comunal fundage) I am a bit of a spend thrift. So of course I go to Mcdonalds. It is very much like a magnet. So I am pretty much stuffed and the last thing I want is more food. Well the Parental unit got a winfall in the form of a check from all the bond money we have paid in to the court system over the last 10 years. Now that it is all over with they are refunding what is left after the fines and what evers. So of course he wants to go out and celebrate at the local pizza place. Seeing that he will not have his licence back for another year or so. He is pretty much dependant on me as his free ride. And he is stuck here much of the time.

So I dont have the heart to say no. So I duck into the bathroom and do some bussiness. To make some room. We go but I still feel like Mr Creosote "it is just a waffer thin mint" "Better get me a bucket, Piss off"

I think I am going to fast for the next 24 hours. Way to much food.

e. b., how much salt are your goats getting? It could've been pure opportunism, but my first thought after reading your story was 'salt deficiency'. (This is why I'm the son of a vet, instead of a vet.)

Theo van Gogh received death threats and was murdered, so a connection between the two is a logical leap, but until the facts come out, it's possibly just a coincidence.

Today I learned not to jump to conclusions, and that if people who don't believe what I do are killed for their beliefs, it doesn't count. (...and I can't figure out how to get the smilies to work -- assume there's a winking one here)

Pim Fortuyn's murder was slightly different, but yes, also because he said what was on his mind.
It's "only" the second "political" murder in 2 years.
Probably hard to imagine, but my country is in quite a shock because of it, and they're actually afraid it will cause quite a rift (and maybe even riots) between the Dutch and the Muslim population.

Oh, I never said that I found the goats disgusting, though. I was more fascinated by a possible common interest. ;) I'm fully aware that many animals find feces nutritious and delicious. However, my amusement was due to the effort the goat put into tilting it's head all around to get under the other goat with its head positioned right between the back legs of the pissing goat. That's all.

Thanks, but that thread really doesn't tell me anything that I didn't already know.
I think most of the reason why i'm still confused is that ithe system as i understand it is just so bizarre.
Especially since I was told on another forum, that only in 38 states is it legally required for the electoral college vote to comply with the poular vote...at this point my confusion is mostly regarding how this system ever got started in the first place.

Curtis
11-05-2004, 01:04 AM
Well, then, what I learned today was that some states require the electors to follow the popular vote. I thought they were allowed to vote their consciences. About every second election some one of them gets up the gumption to enter a protest vote.

Nowadays, with the party system, you're really voting for the slate of electors that the party you voted for established some months earlier. In other words, when you vote for President, you're voting for the party. The party in each state that draws the largest number of votes gets to send their previously selected slate of Electors to the meeting of the Electoral College in early January. It's at that meeting that the President and Vice President are voted on, seperately. It's unusual, but not unheard of, for an Elector to vote for someone other than his party's candidates. Of course, his party will never choose him to be an Elector again. Most often a protestor will vote for a 'favorite son', which means a prominent politician from their home state. Sometimes they will abstain, and very rarely will they vote for an opposition candidate. In 1872 one of the candidates died between the general election and the meetings of the College, so his Electors were released to vote for whom they willed. In both 1956 and 2000, one Democrat abstained. In 1960, FIFTEEN Electors revolted and voted for a favorite son candidate. Favorite sons received single votes in 1972, 1976 and 1988. One of the Republican Electors from West Virginia started two months ago telling anyone who'd listen that he had no intention of voting for Bush.

As for how the system got started, it's as I said in the other thread -- the people who wrote our Constitution didn't trust the bulk of the populace to select the Pres., V.P., or Senators. In the early days, basically before Andrew Jackson was elected (1828), the names of the candidates didn't even appear on the ballots. Instead, the Electors' names appeared with the notation "Vote for any five" (if your state had five electoral votes). (For who could be an Elector, see bottom paragraph.) Back then, candidates didn't campaign (Jackson was the first), the Electors did. As part of their campaign, the Electors would tell the voters who they intended to vote for, but in the end, it was left to their best judgement. That started to change with the ratification of the Twelfth Amendment, which took effect prior to the election of 1804. Starting then, the votes for Pres. and V.P. were taken seperately, and the voting was done in each state individually, with the ballots being sealed and sent to Washington where the outgoing V.P. would count them in the presence of Congress assembled.

By checking Article Two, Section One of our Constitution, I see that the qualifications for an Elector are: Appointed in the manner as each state legislature shall direct (they all do it by popular vote, but as you can see, they could just elect them amongest themselves. I wonder why they don't?). Ineligible are Senators, Representatives, and persons holding an office of trust or profit under the United States. If all this doesn't answer your questions, I suggest to speak to a Professor of Government. There's a good one at Queen's College in Kingston.

Rabbits eat faeces for dull prosaic reasons: it's their equivalent of chewing the cud, to get the full food value from the cellulose by running it through a second time.

But once when I worked on a farm, we took the bull to a cow in season, and he started sniffing her cunt in an interested sort of way, and she started to piss. And he lapped it up enthusiastically. Salt deficiency? I don't think so.

And though they say only humans rape, the first time I saw a big old boar mounting a gilt (virgin sow) after chasing her round the yard and cornering her while she screamed, I reckoned that was as near rape as made no difference.

....that you worry about your kids when they are teenagers too. I'ts just a different kind if worry!

My parents raised us by the principle of Arthur Ransom's Swallows and Amazons books: "Better drowned than duffers, if not duffers won't drown." Which is to say, teach them sense then give them the freedom to take risks.

It wasn't till I had my own teenagers than I realised what a price the parents pay in worries and nerves. But it's worth it.

My Shih Tzu eats her poop, too. I've tried the coprophagia pills, and they don't work. I gave up and resorted to cleaning it up as soon as she drops it. Fortunately, since she's an indoor dog and paper trained, its easy to do. Though I suspect she saves her last 'business' of the evening to after we all go to bed so she can munch away on her 'snack'.
It still disgusts the heck out of me, though!

spike ... you are most welcome to tie me up on your floor. (I'm willing to sacrifice to keep ya happy.) That's a tempting offer, if you can scrape up the airfare, but I think you'll find my floor needs vacuuming first. You up for that too, e.b.?

And Eraser, this is of course the correct thread for what you learned, but we all ache for more details. See the 'Does your mother know?' thread, or the 'embarrassing moments' thread or any number of 'any ideas for what beginners can do to each other?' threads. (And huge numbers of breast bondage threads that for all we know could be relevant.)

I'm willing to forgive the boasting if you'll send the details.

And today I learned that just telling people you are on your own can lead interesting people to offer to visit. They do say the surefire way to get what you want is to ask everybody. Somebody will come through.

Seriously. I watched him jerk off last night (through a crack in the bathroom door; he's too shy about masturbating in font of me) and realized why it takes so long for him to come when I give him a blow job. I'm not concentrating pressure on the right areas. Today I applied what I learned from watching him last night, and he came explosively! Twice! One big one, and then, a few seconds later, a few small squirts! I've never had that happen before...must try that when he gets home from work tonight and see if I get the same reaction. Or maybe tomorrow. It took him almost five minutes to get up from the chair he was sitting on, so maybe that kind of strain isn't so good for him...

... that people can always surprise you.

A sub and part-time TV who I've known for years, and who I'd had pegged as an unadventurous drifter through life, mentioned to me on the phone that he was thinking of going professional. I didn't take it very seriously, but when I met him this week I found he had it all worked out: he plans to break into the pro scene as a TV sub (there's no market for male subs, for the same reason that there's no market for city pigeons), but his eventual aim is to be a dominatrix, since that's where the real money is. He was so determined and so confident that I found myself promising to host a webpage to advertise his services, and to let him come round next time I have a sub visiting so he can try how he can manage the other end of the whip.

I don't know if it'll work out: clothes don't make the domme, and if he doesn't have a feel for domination he won't be able to fake it. But after yesterday, I won't assume anything.

Slave Lucy and I disagree on the need for the war in Iraq. That is fine. I do not have a problem with that. She has her leftist views and I have my rightist views. Today I learned through hope and faith that all can be conquered. I have been praying for Nikka, and in my world god does answer prayers.

Today I learned life can be less stressful if you can ignore some of what "normal" society expects. Remove just one stressful part, and all the rest of the load gets lighter. As does the heart.

that my Master will definitely be moving out of state next year :bawl:(work related). On the bright side....when I mentioned how much I would miss him, he looked at me with sorta sad, yet questioning eyes (gorgeous blue eyes if I may add!!) and said, "But it only adds an hour to your drive and you WILL continue to visit, won't you?" With the biggest :D on my face I answered.....of course Sir! How lucky can a gal get??? :p

That someone I care deeply about felt it was necessary to lie to me :(

So sorry nibbles :( This has happened to me before...it's not an easy thing to deal with...sorry I don't have more comforting words :dunno:

And that I'm a coward, because I KNOW they lied and I didn't call them on it
~~nibbles~~

I don't think you are a coward though...you probably don't like confrontation! I know I don't because this same thing happened to me just recently with a co-worker/good friend (or so I thought!), and I didn't say anything to him

And to keep on topic....Today I learned that the English language is soooo difficult to learn...the second time around! I think they added some stuff since I graduated :D Which is a huge possibility, since I graduated.....er....let's just say....a few years ago :p

Heh! Yeah..i studied language change as part of English Lang. A level..and, yes, the nature of the language beast is that it's constantly transmuting..makes it very tricky to get a full handle on, even if it's your mother tongue, let alone if it isn't!

Oh, and nibbles, that isn't cowardly, that's being human. It is, at best, VERY difficult to say 'look, i know you're lying' to someone, and i certainly wouldn't beat yourself up about it.

...that Christmas will go on this year.

I will sing songs and give gifts and visit with my family. I'll even trim a tree, with geeky Star Trek ornaments (including some dandy homemade little planetoids).

I'll still miss Erin, still grieve, but having a Christmas... one where she's a honored, missing guest... will still be.

Thank you pleez....I appreciate the thought....I still feel like I hid emotionally to protect my interest in this person and that to me is cowardly...but I'm past that now.....life is too short to live in the past :)....nugggggssssss to you for the support!

Regarding the USA version of English, I've been told by my friends (of other nationalities) that it's really a pain to learn because we make up so many of our own words....and we also borrow from everyone else......and since I basically type for a living (which is why I don't care how I type in here, 'cause I have to do that all day and I'm over it after 5 pm :D ), I also know "they" keep changing some of the basic rules of grammar  In any case, I wish you the best with that

P.S. slavelucy....ty for the nice thoughts as well....I don't dwell on the bad stuff of life if I can help it :)

I know what you mean! I graduated only seven years ago, and it's changed a lot in that time! I recently went to the INS website looking for instructions on where to go to take the English classes and law&government classes I need to take before I can take my citizenship test. They said even if I've lived my whole life here, went to school here, graduated here, I still have to take classes to learn to speak and read and write English and civics classes to learn who the President is and what he does and what Congress is and what they do. :cuckoo: So I sent for the English and law books they teach the classes out of, and the English book doesn't look anything like the English I learned in elementary school! i think I might need those English classes!

My heartfelt thanks to slavelucy, nibbles, and jaeangel for your posts regarding the English language! You all helped me feel alot better during this stressful time! I'll be taking my placement tests this Wednesday to go back to college (when re-entering the health field you must take all tests if you've been out of school longer than 5 years....sucks doesn't it??)! So I have been studying like crazy, which proves that the 5 year rule isn't so stupid, since so much has changed and I have obviously forgotten soooo much! Thanks girls for the boost! :D

Now to keep on topic....Today I learned that basic math (yep...gotta take that test too :yuck: ) just ain't that basic! You have to know
GEOMETRY :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: ! Now I took geometry in high school, as well as algebra. But geometry??? :help: Just don't have a love for it I'm sorry to say, but then I don't plan on having to know the cubic circumference of anything....well I guess I do now!

DRINK WATER

One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University study.

Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
