ok all! thanks for reading another of my info seeking threads! I am wondering about sissification.. what it is (I have read wikipedia) for the submissive? what is done during sissification? (tasks, etc.. more than just cross dressing) and what is the mindset behind the enjoyment of it?
Obviously male subs who enjoy this are mroe than welcome... or Dom/mes that have performed the transformation?

Whilst your milage may vary here, I think the essence of sissification/feminisation (I prefer feminisation as a term, as certainly not all femininsed men are what I'd call sissies- it can take an incredible amount of strength for a man to embrace this part of himself) is the breaking down of the social conditioning that forces men to believe they have to satsify a certain set of external criterea in order to be considered male. This is an all-pervasive element of the upbringing of the vastly overwhelming majority of males raised in western society. How well it imprints on them varies, but the message that to be a man you must be strong, competitive, tough, not be inclined to cry, not like pink or lace or female attire, be in the alpha-male, hunter mentality is very, very prevalent, especially in the primary and secondary school years.

The allure of feminisation play can fall into three general camps, but in either case the erotic tension generated is drawn in each case from the breaking down of this conditioning. In general, the three groups of forced femme subs are (and again, ymmv, this is from my own experience)

1. Those who view it as humiliation- that enjoy it from the angle of being broken down into something they perceive as lower than a man; not a woman, but a failed and inferior male.
2. Those who do it because they love it, generally as a form of being able to escape from the traditional masculine role imposed upon them.
3. Those who are neither humiliated nor particularly enjoy it, but do it to please their Dom/me. Here it's drawn from the desire to please, and the satisfaction in being able to subvert their own programming to do so.

There are varying degrees of feminisation and often the role of a Mistress (or a Master) in this is to guide the person along the path.

The ultiimate goal is to live openly and publically as a woman, not necessarily to 'go the whole hog' and have operations but to be able to do the thing that all wannabe transexuals do for at least a year before the op and live 24/7 as a woman. However, there are many steps to get there.

There is an excellent essay on the subject in the FemDomme society webpage. If you join it as a sub and start 'sissy university' you will find it.

An early step is wearing of female clothes under your own clothes - panties, maybe a bra. You wear these for the day - while at work, while out in the evening and so on.

You need to learn how to do make up, how to dress well for your body shape. So, a Dom/me may give you lessons in this or ask you to try to learn. Wearing full female clothes while in the house in private is another step you may take which will help you practise this. Another step may be to take photos of yourself dressed which may be seen by others or to work up to being dressed 'in public' but not 'completely public' - i.e. at a private party of kink aware friends or travelling to a fetish club dressed as a man and changing when you get there.

You also need to work on things like housework - any Mistress who has a sissy slut will more than likely want her to be able to keep her house clean :)

In general, a sissy male is 'more female than female' in attitude. By this I mean that where a real woman in the modern day might wear jeans and can do things that 50 years ago would have been considered 'unfeminine' a sissy male generally conforms to the pre feminist ideals of femininity.

Not to contradict, but actually to ask...

I would have presumed that sissification has nothing to do with feminization per se... or even cross dressing, if the end is to look female. I thought these are acts of desire to be... and/or pride in how one looks and feels.

Doesn't sissification entail making it obvious that we're looking at a man? Aren't there components of humiliation involved and necessary? Not a "real man" and unable to be more than a pretend woman?

It depends on the goal of the exercise... you are right that sissification is strictly defined as 'humiliation' and therefore looking and acting female is not the aim but humiliation is. However, I have heard the terms used more or less interchangeably - sissification referring to a process where the sub looks and acts female all the time at the end of it and those undergo this process referring to themselves as 'sissy subs'.

In some cases it may start out as humiliation play - lets put the large, clompy man in a dress and lingerie and have him serve drinks at dinner - but progresses into a more full time, serious situation where the 'large clompy man' learns how to dress and do make up properly and even undergoes body modification (which can be as basic as a weight loss programme to lose the beer gut) to look even more female.

For me part of the thrill is it turns me into a sexual object. I have no desire to live as a woman but when I am feminized I become a sexual object to be used and enjoyed. Right or wrong for me feminization equals sexual play.
