When do threads migrate to the Archives? Is it automated?

How can we return a thread from the archives back to an active forum?

Typically threads that are either 6+ months to 1 year old are moved to Archives. In addition dead threads at times are moved there as well.

If a thread is getting alot of activity then at times they are moved back to main board.

However with the recent server issue and the loss of 6 months from the boards, doubtful I'll be Archiving much in the near future.
