I just went to the Registry of Motor Vehicles here in FL today to renew my tags and my driver's license. Florida now requires FOUR forms of identification in order to RENEW (not ACQUIRE . . . RENEW!!!) one's driver's license.

Required forms of identification include: proof of citizenship (birth certificate, passport, etc.), proof of social security number (I hadn't known it was necessary to have a ss# in order to drive; my British and Canadian friends will be disappointed), and TWO proofs of residential address . . . after all, we wouldn't want any homeless people, or people whose landlords pay their utilities FOR them, driving around Florida, would we?

This is, so far as I can ascertain, more forms of ID than are required to BECOME A NATURALIZED CITIZEN in this country.

Seriously . . . What. The. Fuck.

my British and Canadian friends will be disappointed.

They shouldn't be, Getting an International drivers permit is a different process, and once issued, it is valid in all U.S. States as far as I know.

Cheers
