I have noticed a lot of you over the last few days commenting that SpelChek is not working. I, too, have been having trouble getting it to work properly.

So, is it working for any of you? Or is the function just completely on the fritz?

Well, I had problems from the time I came back on this fall, but after about two weeks, it started working, right in the middle of typing up a complaint about it. It's worked fine ever since. ...and I just used it now, and it's fine.

Warning: ftp_login(): Authentication failed, sorry in /home/spelche2/public_html/forums/ad.php on line 11
Ftp connection has failed!Attempted to connect to for user

The process seems to work fine untill I click on the "finish checking" button and the normal page doesnt come up but one with the url http://bdsmlibrary.com/test/test.html?id=scdata_38397748628&server=www

This while posting this message.

I'm still having with the system reporting threads and forms read when they haven't. For me this just started today.

Also in the last three weeks I have had a lot of time outs and 404's

No changes on my end to complicate matters.

SpelChek is not firewall friendly. I have to turn off my privacy control in order for it to work.

No thats not the problem here but today it seems to works. :)

All of the form functions seem to be back to their normal selves too. :)

What ever bug was hanging arround met the Orkin man. Just like the spider that set up shop on my cpu fan last week.

Well, when I checked in around 10:30pm on the 5th, three threads didn't show all of their posts the first time around. I wouldn't've noticed, except that as I was trying to post in one of them, I scrolled down and saw two posts that hadn't showed up when I read through it, so I went back over all of the other threads and found two others that had 'skipped' posts. The problem doesn't seem to've recurred.

As of posting the spell checker is still a go for me. While the sys is now setting the thread red flags it isnt getting them all right. This thread wasnt marked as having new posts for example. Harumpf. Oh joy.

Still not being notified of all new posts. One came in as I was browsing tonight, but it didn't show up on the Library Forums table of contents page. Yesterday two threads had multiple posts in them, but the red flag didn't activate, so now I'm having to scrutinize the table of contents for the time of last posting, which is a pain. And it didn't help tonight, because one of Master13's posts didn't show up as the latest post in Mobius' Dungeon, even though it was.

I'm also not being notified by an on-screen alert if a PM comes in while I'm onsite. This started about ten days ago. I'm still getting the e-mail notifications, though sometimes hours late. That could just be slow delivery though, not a problem with this system.

And finally (for tonight), why has the clock been consistently 15 minutes slow since the time change in late October? I keep expecting it to be fixed, but maybe nobody else has noticed? :help:

Ditto Curtis, except for the email option which I dont use. Right now the problems are as you describe. But this seem to be an intermitant problem. It persists for a while and then goes away. See the earlier posts. And yes the clock has been slow for a while.

Any chance the spel-chek could be extended to the private message feature as well? Some of us could use that....

Thanks for thinking about it anyway.

I attemted to use spelchek today and got the message that it refuses use to sites with sexual explict material. Blast thing ate my post in Lord Mobius dungeon *grumbles*.

So before I attempt to use it again, does anyone know if we no longer have access to this tool?

when ever you try and use the function it just keeps coming up with the message.
"Note: We reserve the right to deny the use of this service, to any web site that contains pornography, sexually explicit material, illegal material, or material that promotes illegal activity. "
can we change to another spell checker becasue this is just getting annoying?

The spellchecking is not available. I put an announcement up about this issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks TG and Jinn.

Hm, wonder where I put the dictionary. Heck do I still even own one? Wow, easy to get spoiled on the computer doing the thinking for me.

i've begun writing my posts on Word and then after spell checking them, cutting and pasting here. But the real issue is this is another instance of someone trying to force their morals upon us and limit our expression. What's next, book burnings - someone save that copy of "Tom Sawyer," that novel has been on the books to burn list for quite some time. If these guys get their way, maybe Firemen will have to reverse their roles and begin setting fires in a most Bradburian way. Bradburian, unfortunately wasn't in my spell checker - but refers to the author Ray Bradbury and in this case, his novel "Fahrenheit 451," which i'd find very amusing if it too were on the books to burn list.
