Hey all,

I've kinda liked the idea of BDSM for well forever, but I've never had any opportunity to explore. I don't know too much about it all, and wouldn't even know where to start. I'm not even sure which role I fit in, so thats me, newbie, and confused! *Wave*

Hi, NCB.

Welcome to the Library! Like jacee said, you picked a great place to start. Don't worry about the confusion, either. Just take your time, read, and learn. Most important of all is to enjoy your time here.

Oh, by the way, i met my Master here, too. :)

Hey all,

thank you for the kind welcome! couple of questions if I may. Firstly, my gosh, is there a world of information here, and I know there's an entire forum for newbies, could you recommend a place to start in it? I'm getting lost in it all! Secondly, both Jacee and chipmunk say you meet your masters on here. At the risk of sounding silly, what exactly is a m(M?)aster? I get that is the dom, but is that all there is too it?

Thanks!

i met my Master on this site as well, so i think i'm gonna take a shot at your question. Master is in reference to a Dom. One of the more common titles (or so i've noticed) that pets/subs/slaves etc, etc use when addressing their Dominant. Others include Sir, Liege, Owner and there are many, many others. i don't really think Master implies something specific, though it may be more common in power exchange situations.... Hope that helps!

I highly recommend looking at the stories on here. They let you get a taste of what you might be interested in in probably the safest way.. dont like it.. turn the page or find a different story. :). Good luck. You'll find lots of helpful folks here.

Thanks for the info Karley, I didn't know there were so many different names and titles! I take it it's a preference thing.
SirStein, I've had a look at some of the stories, didn't know how true to life they are, certainly some of them seem a bit...erm....creative?

Some of the stories are more far-fetched than others, but they do give you a taste of the different kinks people have. You might also want to read in the "BDSM 101" section of the site.

Yeah mostly a preference thing. Pretty much what each party is comfortable with. Varies totally from relationship to relationship. And there are really just as many diminutives for subs as there are titles for Doms.

However... be safe. Don't give out location, personal info etc until you really know them. Too many newbies jump in too fast and get burned. Best advice is to take it slowly.

Thanks for the tip SirStein, Don't worry though, I figured I should at least get an idea of what it is I'm getting into before I start meeting anyone or something. Tasking society looks interesting though, kinda hard to tell exactly how it works but would that be a way to explore?
