Cursed Thing

In truth my mind is my worst enemy.
It sees in every shadow misery and heartache.
It builds up on subtle doubts to create fear.
It surrounds me with confusion and leaves me in isolation.
It leads me into conflict within myself that leaves me bloody and wounded.
It causes me to weep.
Cursed thing that deprives me of joy and leaves me a dark and broken shell.

I find myself relating to this far too much in my life. It can happen at any time of day but seems to especially like to rear its nasty head as I try to sleep.
