I lost the person in this poem some years ago, I miss him every day...
The demons that
haunted you
are no longer
They stilled the night
the pain became too much
the night you opted out
& left us all behind
My brother
without the blood
lost far too soon
I wish I could have
helped you
somehow
gotten through
but I couldn't
no one could
though we tried
it was of no use
I still expect
to hear you
banter
sing
laugh
give me a hard time
to walk into view
Today would have been
your 30th birthday
You are remembered always
You were a gift to know
for the time that I was
allowed to
I miss you...
