Hooray! My first thread.
I was wondering if anybody had any tips or ideas regarding the modification and/or use of household items as toys? Something small and easily concealed from housemates, (i.e. no full suspension frames, heh heh) and something that doesn't take an industrial machine shop to make. The more original and clever the better! Also, being a university student, the ol' budget is a little tight, so any ideas would preferably be relatively inexpensive.

I think that there has been at least one thread on this before, but that's not to say its not worth re-visiting. I'll start the ball rolling with boring ( :eek: ) old clothes pegs, elastic bands and string.
A very efficient gag can be made by securing two pencils together with elastic bands at either end and pushing the tongue through them. This keeps the tongue pushed out, restricts speech (and screams), hurts and, best of all, allows the submissive to drool everywhere. :D

I am new here but I think I have a suggestion.
My husband, when being submissive, likes to use something to pull on his balls. His latest creation is a roll of quarters wrapped tightly in Saran Wrap then wrapped tightly around his sac.
I don't know if this anything you might be interested in but just in case here it is.

being an old university student myself i have had the same problem. Now me and my gf hasnt been using many "toys" yet, that may come later but the ones we have used are as follows:
for robe: scarfs (then things you use around your neck when it is cold), different clothes aka pants.
blindfold: scarfs, headband etc.
punishment: well that old brush looks promishing ;) (it does work wonders trust me )
well thats about it, we still have a lot to learn :) things that might work are:
electrical wires for bondage (off course unplugged), spatulas, vegetables, microwawe oven (no just kidding :D ). cant think of more atm, hope there was something you could use. happy hunting

Rope and chain are easy to find there in pretty much any type and length you may need. Rope is also easy to store, and you've got other reasons (erm, ok maybe not) for having it around

Clothes pegs have been fun, to say the least :D . WontWorry, I'm rather intrigued by your pencil gag, and may have to try that in the near future and report back as to its effect. However, may substitute chopsticks for pencils. (I have a little jar full of chopsticks...everytime my housemates and I get Chinese food, we keep 'em! No sense in throwing out a perfectly good pair of chopsticks.)
I'm also beginning to see the fun uses for stuff I find around the house. For instance, I found a bamboo-ish backscratcher about 18" long with a 1/2" wide handle...that handle produces quite a sting! Yee-ouch!

Well I'm looking around me now and I can see several dildo and plug shaped objects and I'm not looking hard, handles, bottles, jars. You can also craft your own dildo/plug out of an nice large firm carrot. All you need is a condom to malke them safe and hygeinic. I don't know how well equiped your kitchen is but I have a utensil here that clips shut, it has an action like a pair of scissors but has flat horizontal ends. Ideal for clamping to the labia etc.
Students can afford condoms can't they? I don't know from which side of the pond you are from but when I was a student, female students could get free condoms from several sources, family planning org, student welfare etc. etc.

Everything is pervetable.
If you have one of those blinds that fold down and will allow you to chane their direction with one of those rods. That rod can make an effective caneing type toy.
You can also get a lot of cotton string, around 15-20 feet, and then begin to fold it in half again and again untill you end up with a one foot length of folded rope. Tie off one of the ends and split open the other and you have a cotton string flogger.

And a personal favorite of mine, a makeshift gag that will go away eventually.. Take two Fruit-by-the-Foot candy things. Take the whole candy off the paper, and roll them into a big ball of candy, using the two Fruit-by-the-foots. Tried WontWorry's pencil gag. Quite effective and uncomfortable! I can see myself doing that again for sure! Except I might need stronger elastics...I found that if I tried hard enough, I could slip my tongue out from between the pencils.
Also found some particularly devious clothespins lying around. They're plastic with small teeth to them. Funny enough, they've gone missing from the house's junk drawer, and I haven't the foggiest idea where they went... :D
And yes, students CAN afford condoms. But not many.

Insert corks between lucy's fingers: four to each hand. Champagne corks between thumb and forefinger (or something bigger). A foot can take two or three between toes, depending on size and flexibility. Perhaps start with two: one between big toe and 2nd, one between 3rd and 4th toe. If foot cramps, take out corks and let her stand on that foot until it's over. She would simply have to hold the corks between her fingers and toes while you do some of the things you're good at... Just a little extra discomfort.

Just about anything that is relatively small (ie: fits in a drawer). That's about my only criteria. It can be something that you find and use, something that you make, or whatever! As long as it's a relatively vanilla item in its previous life, turned into a deliciously kinky toy.

If you're into pain, ralgex (it's a deep heat thing) and sandpaper are both vanilla in their previous lives, but can be used to er, great effect for evil purposes. We used both back when we were online, we still use ralgex because i HATE it and it's a discomfort i have never got 'used' to. :eek: :o

It's a deep heat embrocation which er..hurts like fuck on sensitive parts, but shouldn't cause any lasting damage, but i'd advise you to do a skin test first. The pain wears off after maybe 20 mins or so (depending on where it's placed) and take it from me that rubbing it or putting water on it will NOT help! :eek: :p i think it is a UK thing, but no doubt there's a US equivalent. :)

Just another "cheap" suggestion I haven't seen anywhere, but use, ever so often myself :D , are the tiny hair clips used on little girls. You know the ones with 3-4 teeth that are like little clamps. The big ones really don't do a whole lot in my opinion, but if you get the tiny ones their little teeth are deadly. You can get all the little "pins" around a good sized nipple or on a clit nicely. best of all, my husband doesn't ask why I keep a few in the shower (detachable shower head, duh) Anyhoo, buy these by the cardful at walmart or a dollar store and go nuts. Sorry about the long absence, studying for midterms and all that.
Ok, so I decided I would put together a fair amount of the insight shared on this thread (many thanks to all, and keep the ideas comin'), and have a bit of fun with myself. Got out my clothespins, backscratcher/asswhipper, some rope, the chopstick gag, and my trusty padlock. I can highly recommend ginger root - find it in the grocery store for about $1, usually near the potato and onion baskets. Peel it, carve it into a butt plug shape (with a good fat base so it can't accidentally disappear), smooth it out with a paring knife, rinse. Be careful not to rub your eyes! Use string (embroidery floss works fine, leather string is better, but it doesn't really matter) and thread it through the holes. Wrap electric tape around the bottom to make a handle. This makes an EXCELLENT belter. Great sound, great sting, and if the string is thick enough it actually leaves X's on your ass. But I advise not to use the belts where the holes have metal rings around them, because those actually leave little bitty bruises.

I made a few toys that we both enjoy...
I made a flogger out of thin, white, nylon rope. Each piece is about 2 feet long, and knotted at the top and attatched to a short dowel with black electrical tape. The rope is very thin, and stings. I got it in the boating/camping section at Wal-Mart; they have several thicknesses, and it's really cheap.
I also made a clit flogger just like the one mentioned above- rubber bands clipped, knotted, and attached to a dowel with black tape. Done lightly, it is very arousing and stimulating. Done hard, it stings like hell.
Cheap, wooden back scratchers make excellent canes.
Water or juice bottles (like Minute Maid or Aquafina) make wonderful sucking devices. Squeeze air out, then put on nipples, clit, inner thighs, etc, and let go. The suction is quite nice. The thicker the plastic, the harder the suck- thinner plastic = more gentle suck.
Bengay, Icy Hot, Toothpaste (use a little as lube for cunt or ass), Gold Bond, Ginger, all make fun sensations, but don't overdo it.
They have these great little nubby plastic beads in all shapes and sizes at the craft store for real cheap (they look like a golf ball, only the bumps protrude, rather than indent). Thread them onto a lanyard, and you have a string of anal beads longer than anything you could get at the adult toy store.

my Master likes to use those little clippy things that hold thick stacks of paper - He calls them Bulldogs but i don't know if that is really what they are called. anyways, they clamp on tightly to nipples and other sensitive areas!
also, the wooden spoon is another favorite of His.
Favorite of mine would have to be the toothpaste for sure..oh, and the electric toothbrush! ;)
