We have these lovely suspension cuffs we never use. I've taken some C-shaped steel hooks(like you'd use to hang a ladder in the garage and screwed them into an oak beam in the opening to our attic. Can't see 'em with the door closed and with the door open, you might think it odd, but you'd not really comment on it.
Since DH is big(6'7", 290 LBS), do you think I could suspend him from them?
They bend a little with me on them(5'10", 178 lbs), but they hold.
Any good thoughts on what to do with him once I have him?
TIA,
Magister

If they bend a little with you, I'd be afraid of them straightening with him.

TIA, C hooks arn't ment to support that much weight. they are for holding lite loads. First the oak beam may be ok but you shood check to see that is supported properly as well. If it is a long span with out supports than it is holding a lot of weight already but if supported than it may be all right. On the suppention points you need brackets that can hold 4 to 5 times the weight that you intend to put on them. I don't think that the two of you will not be moving or there isn't going to be any sudden movements. That in its self puts up to 4 times the pull of the stadic ot stationary weight of wht is suspended.

But long enough to turn us on, which is all that matters.
DH has a plan to put industrial eyehooks in the rafters and the floor and do a stretch with the come-along we use to pull out the tractor or truck when they get stuck. Seems a little extreme but intriguing to me.
thanks

To answer your basic question oneslave4me in a word NO. Allalone is spot on on this, if DH is 300# then you need a hard point that will hold at least 1200# or more. Even if you try to use them for a minute ot two you will porbably find that they won't hold and DH's head hitting the hard concrete floor for 6' 7" is enough to kill him. Why take the risk?
DH's plan for "indutrial strength" rigging is right on the mark.

So take a little time to get the rigging up to snuff, particulary when dealing with a big person and concerte floors. Then you can enjoy the fruits of the labor for many days and nights to come.
