A Different Approach To BDSM Limits Lists

This list is my own personal BDSM Limits list which was created a couple of years ago as a reference for hubby to give to others he selected to play with me. It's not a complete list as many of the traditional BDSM limits lists seem to be because the object of this one was to ONLY list things that I considered were within bounds, even if only just. There is still a vast many things on this list which I haven't tried, but they pop up in fantasies or may be used by anybody who writes with me as a guide for things that aren't going to thoroughly squick me.

The reason for organizing the list into activities grouped roughly into various BDSM areas rather than using an alphabetical list is this. At the time when this list was created, my 'slave training' was conducted as a game where activities my training master and mistress chose for me were chosen randomly by the roll of a seven-sided dice (hence the 7 activity groups rather than six). I'll discuss the rules that were invented for this in a separate post.

It should also be mentioned that it was my duty to create the list which was then amended by hubby and the Tops in my training game -- thus the list became known as the Top Pleasures List. The list hasn't been organized with any sense of priority either. There was another list I had to create which became known as the Bottom Pleasures List. This essentially was a list of non-kink things that I considered would be enjoyable 'rewards' for me and that Tops could refer to when the occasion called for it. I'll also post this list, just as soon as I can find where I've archived it!

My pet and I recently modified the "usual" types of activity lists to include things folks might do in "fantasy" play versus actual play. It also includes a column for things switches might have done when they were the acting dom.

I should warn you in advance my Bottom's Pleasure List is really not very kinky at all. I like simple pampering pleasures like having my hair brushed or my feet massaged (which were acceptable) and others like "buy slave802120 lots of expensive perfume and jewellry" or "take her on a nice Carribean cruise" (which wasn't :)

But, I will post the list anyway, such as it is/was. As fate would have it, those playing were more interested in the Top Pleasure List than my little list of simple delights, although I did earn some wonderful romancing -- candles, fondue dipped chocolate, etc. -- before the whole game fell apart for reasons too boring to repeat here.

One thing I probably should have been more clear on -- the basic concept behind both the Top and Bottom Pleasures Lists was that every activity listed was one that was (a) within the limits of all players and (b) as part of the game played, usually chosen "randomly" either using a special dice set (essentially a set of Dungeons & Dragons dice) or other elements of "chance". In other words, there wasn't any degree of "enthusiasm level" for either the Tops or me, as the Bottom, beyond if "it's on the list, it MIGHT happen". It was a simple case of everything on the list is fair game and "serendipity" decided the direction and the boundaries of the limits.

The reason for this was those 'traditional' types of Limits Lists originally scared the hell out of me. I still vividly recall the time I saw one for the first time, in a situation where I was expected to go through the whole rating process for things such as "anal toys - huge". I totally freaked and just wrote "NO! HARD LIMIT!" on everything that followed without ever really considering any other reply. It should also be remembered hubby and I had never operated within any kind of formally negotiated limit list prior to this either. After many years of marriage and intimacy, the whole concept of making any kind of 'shopping list' was a bit of an anathema -- for me, at least. If I can offer any suggestions/opinion from a sub perspective it is that we don't always like being pushed in any one direction, especially when we're newbies.

To impress this point I might say it actually took my hubby more than ten years of patience and gentle persuasion before I felt comfortable to undress in front of anybody besides him. I'm only speaking for myself and my own inhibitions, but he had the patience of a pebble with me and I seriously doubt I would be the person today if he had been anything else.
