If you were the opposite sex, would you be the same in terms of D/s or would you want to be in a different role?

I'm just wondering whether this happens a lot or not. I'm a male dom, but I think if I were female, I would want to be a sub. I don't know why this is, I just found it kind of funny that I think this way.

now as for spilling the beans, I also have changed gender from female to male, and from my point of view, I grew up submissive. With a very "quick handed" mother, who used belt's wooded spoon's, canes to dish out punishment. In my earlier sexual life as a young adult, violent/cruel parterns became my scene, looking back in hinded sight, this was partly due to the tormented feelings that I had about myself, I didn't know at the time that there was help.

I mulled this over in my head as I read through the replies, and my own response has changed several times. While it's difficult to tell without actually being in that position, I believe I would have a very slight inclination towards being dominant, with a primary attraction towards women. (I'm submissive and owned- My Dom is a man, though I previously considered myself a bit bisexual. I say "previously" because I don't know if I can be committed to a hetero relationship and still call myself bisexual. I say "a bit" because I've always been more inclined towards relationships with men.)

Am confused about your comments.

Are you saying that all men should be doms and females subs in your last sentence?

Or are you saying that doms/dommes should be in charge - as in giving the orders - while the subs take them?

I do sometimes/often think about how it would be being female and I think that I would probably enjoy it a bit. I am completely heterosexual and therefore am thinking that if my gender was switched I would still be attracted to women. AS I am now, I have dominant tendencies but I think that it by default. Men really don't have the stuff that I like to play with (breasts / cunt) and therefore I think that it would not be as much fun as a sub and tend to think of doming female subs instead.

Its not often someone else brings up the subject in an open manner like this so its quite refreshing when it happens.

For me, gender has no bearing on my role. Both before and after I decided to make my change I was a submissive. I tried being a switch/top, and while I'm technically competent at it, its not something I enjoy or get any fulfillment from.
