During my TOO many trips driving the ALCAN from Anchorage to Washington DC over the last 2 decades, I had frequent opportunities to meet & interact with all manner of Canadians and USAians. I discovered there are a lot of great folks in both nations and a lot of assholes too--same mix on this venue--probably the same mix if you compared Germans and Dutch, French and British (well, no doubt more FRENCH assholes).

Down here in South Texas, it's Hispanic vs. Anglo...guess what? Same mix. I try to avoid the assholes of any nationality & race BUT, unfortunately, I'm an asshole magnet--guys for some reason. But, that's OK because I seem to attract only the sweetness women, so it all evens out. Now, what the hell was the subject here...let me scroll up...oh yeah--there's all kinds--ain't life grand??!!!

being an Aussie, I think the same as a lot of Aussies, that we live in the best country on earth and have no need to brag about it (and of course we are right!!) but yes, there are wankers here too, truckloads of them.

I spent the last few years working in USA, Canada and the UK and although people are different there, the ratio of wankers to "normal human beings" is the same. The only thing I found hard were some of the all pervading attitudinal differences that the Americans have to say the British or Australians, but that is just a cultural thing that I have as a result of my own heritage.

It is sad that all the Americans I met in the UK tried to tell me (and everyone) that they were Canadians, just to escape the stigma of being American. One girl, with a strong Texan accent tried to tell me she was from west coast Canada - I told her I had spent the last 8 months digesting the Texan accent so she should find some other bullshit to spew for me..........................!

To prove I have a sense of humour …

Former Prime Minister the late Pierre Elliot Trudeau, when he was Minister of Justice in the Government of Canada, said “Government has no business in the bedrooms of the nation”. He was referring to his decision to have thrown out of court, the prosecution of a couple who were observed having sex on their kitchen table. I have no idea if the peeping tom was charged.

Canada has very repressive laws against BDSM literature and movies. They are difficult to bring in to our country – I’ve had several confiscated by Canada Customs.
At the same time, recent court decisions acquitted a child pornographer. Go figure.

The United States has a very strong puritanical bent, especially in the southern “Bible Belt”. Religious leaders, politicians, the film industry, and others often reflect this in public speeches. At the same time, pornography is a multi billion-dollar industry in the United States. Go figure this one too …

Several countries questioned the suitability of one of the UN arms inspectors because he was known to have practiced BDSM. I guess his sexual preferences would have rendered him desirous of the use of a weapon of mass destruction, preferably when he was in the area.

Recently the Government of Canada enacted legislation that enables couples of the same sex to legally marry. However, they forgot to change the divorce legislation – it specifically refers to “man” and “woman”. The lovely and loquacious kittenfemme can indeed get married to her partner in Canada, but then she’s stuck ‘till death do us part’.

Many many years ago, Canadians were paid a “family allowance” (aka baby bonus) based on the number of children in the home. I believe this started way back in New France, when our population was extremely small. In essence, Canadians were paid to have babies. There is a long standing joke in our country as a result:
Q: “Why does the government pay Canadians to have babies?”
A: “Because they would not think of it otherwise”
