The five minutes must be calculated from the time you start a reply. I posted a replt and went to edit it right then and was refused. Why is there a five minute limit on being able to edit a post? Why was it changed?

Yes. I am curious about that too. It's not that I post a lot, but when I do I have a bad habit of leaving a typo behind. And am anal retentive enough to want to fix it. ;)

Can we have our old time limit back for editing posts? Or at least more than 5 minutes? :)

Yes please. The editing feature is very useful and necessary.
It has only advantages and no disadvantages I can think of.

I use the 'edit' button a lot. I need it, and I need time to figure out what I mistakes I may have made so that I can correct them.

Just for future reference ---when a problem is discovered a email or a pm works better--as you know some time posts get buried under new posts--so to ensure I see or know about your problem ---I do answer all emails and PMs
