View Full Version : Why or How Did You Pick Your ID Name
submissivewife

Similar to Your Avatar...Why?
The reason for this thread is because everyone has unique and interesting name and wondered, how and/or why, you picked your ID Name and what it means to you.
I'll go first....
When I first joined this forum I had no idea what to go by and in an uninventive moment I picked "submissivewife". Mostly because that is what I am; a submissive wife. Since then I have become known around the board as subwife or in LTP's case subbywife.

Well I did not pick my name, my Lord did, the way I orgasim over and over just made him think of poptart, I don't need to question it further, cuz I love it when he calls me that.

Prpackaged
03-26-2006, 06:21 PM
Every one comes into this area with preperceptions of what they will find. I chose prpackaged just so I would remind myself to not trust the prepackaged perceptions.

I was looking for a name that you didn't normally see in a BDSM context and I was just about to give up and go with bdsmsirdominantlordmastertopwhowillmakeyouacumslut when I saw a page of Aesop's fables. If this guy wasn't a dom he should have been. His fables all have morals at the end that don't suggest a course of action, but demand it. So I chose his name as my ID.
Oh and he's such a smartass too. :D

Yes. Yes we do. :old:
Hey can I have that name if you don't want it Aesop? :ty
I know a song by a group called the 'Hoodoo Gurus' an aussie group- there's a line 'Tojo never made it to Darwin'. That was in my head when I was trying to come up with a handle.
I also love Japanese & Asian girls, & Japanese culture. Tojo Hideki had some qualities in common with me, arrogance & imagination- stubborness & a willingness to go against the flow....
So that's me, I've been Tojo for years now.

Nikita
03-26-2006, 10:55 PM
Not only is Nikita my nom de plume, it is one of my names. It's a family thing. My grandmother had seven names because her father was so happy to have a daughter after many sons; all her names ended in 'a'. So my father gave me with four names, one of them was Nikita, and I don't go by that in real life.

I choose mine by looking through the dictionary for something unique when I came across an old term for property which I liked so I used it.
Sklaventreiber
03-27-2006, 08:25 AM
I look through a dictionary also...
I have German blood flowing through my veins and after having taken Deutsch for two years was well versed in the ways Deutschlanders put there words together. Look Sklaventreiber in a german dictionary and you won't find the word as a single word but as a combination of two words, Sklaven: Slave, and treiber: driver...
Oh and it's pronounced: Skl(ahhh)ven...tr(eye)ber
learningtopleez
03-27-2006, 12:16 PM
When I first came to this forum, I was just learning about bdsm. The Dom I was with at that time had given me assignments to write for him. I was to write a fantasy once a week that included him and I, of course, and I was to tell him about something I was interested in. Being a newbie I wasn't so sure!:o I knew of some things, but not all of it! Hell, I still don't know all of it! I have found that bdsm is different for everyone, at least our likes and dislikes. And I have found that there is always something new to learn! But at that time, I did know that I wanted to please him:idea: ...hence learningtopleez! Which is quite a mouthful too (just not as much as Aesops first choice!:p ), So around here and in other forums (like my lj) I get called LTP for short! Like subbywife, I don't mind it a bit! :)
vistana
03-27-2006, 03:50 PM
i've had this handle for almost as long as I've been going online & use it for everything. If you see a vistana pretty much anywhere online, it's probably me, I've never used anything else and I've never encountered another one
when I was in grade 7 I went to Florida for a vacation & stayed at Vistana Resort. I liked the sound of it, plus there's sentimental value, as I got my first real kiss there, from a boy named Joe from New Jersey. So I started using the name, originally I used vistana_girl, but dropped the girl after I got old enough that it seemed silly.
i've thought about getting a new one, after 8 years this one feels a little tired, but i haven't found anything else that fits.

The D is for Drest, which makes a silly little name. It was the name of a character I liked in a novel I was reading way back when I first started going online, and I used it, and now it's twelve years later and far too late to switch. Oh well!
Ozme52

LOL. Mine's just too convoluted to believe. I go back to the days of the old Apple II and some very basic text-based role play games. You needed to give a name and I didn't want to use my own of course, because characters can die in role play. Can't have a character with my own name. So I decided to use one that started with "Z"... last letter in the alphabet and all that. Also liked Jules Verne's Nemo character... so Zemo was born.
At work, I picked up the nickname Wiz... because I could debug any program... found hours of run time improvements... produced more code than people with far more experience... and when I applied for a civil service position, aced the L.A. City Civil Service Computer Tests, normally an 8 hour ordeal, in 45 minutes....
So, keeping that in mind, when the online world began to be real, I scrambled the letters ZEMO to come up with Ozme... discovered the Wizard of Ahhhhhhhs play on words... and
Voila!!
eviana
03-29-2006, 06:45 PM
My ID is my slave name. I chose it for myself after I had asked to be released from my first Master so that I could pursue a new relationship with my present one. My first Master had advised me to relinquish the name he had given me so that my new Master could choose one of his own. I did, but I still had need of a name to play under until I had accepted his collar, signed our contract and took on the new name he would give me. After much consideration I picked eviana. Once Master had discovered the reasons that I had for choosing it, he allowed me to keep it. When we are out at fetish or BDSM events this is how he introduces me, otherwise he rarely uses it. Normally he just calls me slave.

His_pita
04-01-2006, 04:18 PM
When my Joe first became my Dom back in April of 2005 he gave me the name pita. It means Pain In The Ass. It is a fun term of endearment that isn't very common from what I have seen. When we joined this board I became His_pita and he became her_Joe.
The great thing about it is that in almost a year I really do feel my name is Pita. When he calls me by my real name it is always a bit of a shock. Even my kid thinks it's weird if he calls me my real name because we are all so used to me now just being Pita. :)

one of the most romantic things that has ever been said to me was when Master and i first got together, many many years ago. we were at a country music festival and i was sitting on the tailgate of a friend's truck when the sun came out from behind the clouds. i leaned way back and turned my face to the sun (one of my favorite feelings ever) and He said i looked like a flower.
years later, once we had discovered this lifestyle, we were discussing a suitable name for me and i told him how special and beautiful i felt when He had said that to me. He said that He liked the thought of that and after discussing many different types of flowers He decided on orchid because it was exotic and delicate....apparently that is how He thinks of me, though i never knew until that moment.
He has called me that for 3.5 years now and i still love it so that is why i use it.

Enola Gay was the plane that dropped the first attomic bomb ever used in warfare. the plane was named after one of the crew mens mum. The bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, on August 6, 1945.
I think it shows my fondness for history, and is just very me. I feel like a small geeky person now..

My Mistress /wife picked my name over many years i guess it started when we first got married and she found out about my dressing, so she started calling me nancy boy all the time and it sort of stuck for ages , now my wife is disabled and only a few weeks ago she said to me why dont we take this further by you being my maid when ever you are at home (which is most of the time) being the submissive one and to please her more i said yes ok no problems.
Then she said as you are going to be my maid and for years you have answered to nancy boy you are now going to be maid nancy and the 4 u bit is my part to show my thoughts to Mistress

Sweet_Sylvi
04-10-2006, 04:36 AM
I chose my name, because I am often just called Sylvi for short instead of Sylvia, which is my right pre name. I added the ‘sweet’-term, because sometimes people likes to call me that too and because it gives a nice contrast to my dominant side:whip: . I really don’t know, why I am telling it so detailed, because in combination with my profile it increases the risk to be discovered by someone who knows me. Maybe I want it, but mostly I think, that I like such riskful games too much.

Ishtar
04-10-2006, 12:37 PM
Hi! I'm a total newbie, have mountains to learn and have not found my niche yet.
I wanted to be named after a planet. Googled Venus (being female!) and found that it was equated to the Greek, Aphrodite and Babylonian, Ishtar. I liked the name Ishtar and found it to be the Babylonian High-Mother-Goddess. Like Inanna, she is the goddess of love, fertility and war. Her cult was the most important one in ancient Babylon and Ishtar became, under various names, the most important Goddess of the Near-East and Western Asia. I thought it appropriate for the site!

Being known online by your real name makes things a lot more personal, too. It probably doesn't make much of a difference here on the forums, but over at the academy...having a Taskmaster call you by your real name...*gets weak knees thinking about it*...SO nice. :D
I can see why other people want to get creative and find some meaningful or fun nick...hell, I've done it for my email or messenger ID, too. It's fun! But somehow I really like the feeling of being open about who I am in my BDSM life. And this is one of many little steps I took so far. :)

Mistress Orchid
04-17-2006, 01:20 AM
I use Mistress Orchid for a couple of reasons. I have a tattoo on my hip that I designed, it was my first tattoo, and I waited for nearly 8 years to finally have it done. Its of an orchid, which I love because orchids look so much like female genitalia. My husband actually thinks that my tat looks very much like my own genitalia :D Also, the orchid is a flower that seems to always be considered "the sex flower". I have finally started collecting orchids and am learning to cultivate and grow my own.

For me, YamiNoHikari is my alter ego. You will find a good boy in my real life. My real self lies in other nickname which I've often use in forum even in gaming. YamiNoHikari (means "Light of Darkness") only used when I browse websites for adult material, like Adultfanfiction, BDSMLibrary, ShoujoAi, and others I forgot.
And for my avatar (at least now not later), it is from my story Bond of Destiny. I like her Master Form. (though more like Kingdom Hearts 2???-name-)

I picked my username, because I belong to several different forums, and didn't want to use any of them for fear of being seen by someone who knows me. CrimsonWineGlass
04-28-2006, 04:34 PM
I guess I chose mine because it combines pain and sofistication into a single term. Also, wine glasses tend to have a sensual feel that I like. Crimson of course refers to blood. When I read over my screen name I can't help but picture a sofisticated lady, a leg on her knee, slowly sipping a wine glass filled with blood, an aura of power emitting. I guess that is kinda why I like it. I originally got the insperation from an Anne Rice novel in which Lestat kills a rat and drains the blood into a wine glass and starts sipping casually.

My name is a part of a name i use all over. The full name is Uther Doul, and comes from a caracter in a China Mieville book. I love his books and this caracter enthraled me. I also like the feel of the name on my tongue, its neat to pronounce.
What struck me now is that this caracter is the perfect Dom. I never thought about it, i picked the name Utherdoul long time before i knew i was a sub.
And the "Ms" is only cause i somehow identify myself with this Utherdoul name after using it for 2 years online, and wanted the name to show that i was female.
Interesting thread this is:)
Kyros
06-06-2006, 11:06 AM
When picking up the name online several years ago, I thought of what would fit me the best. Then one day I came across an article on the web about Kyros.
Quoting from that article " Kyros indicates a legitimate, but more limited, moral authority whose wielder takes into consideration the good of those over whom it is exercised. Such restricted power is not abused. "
This I thought fitted me very well because this how I practiced bdsm as a mentor, dominator, firm disciplinarian but never an abuser.
Hence the name

Grinser
06-12-2006, 04:34 PM
nice thread, interesting to find out how far the origins of the nicknames vary and what stories lie behind them.
@animanota, the word sounds like latin, could be interesting to look it up... animus is spirit, anima would be the plural of it, but thats where my latin knowledge ends... always had bad grades in latin...
"Grinser" roughly means "smiling person" in German, but it`s in no way grammatically correct ;) . I always used that name from the first day I had internet access until now and a lot of people I know refer to me as Grinser.
I originally picked it partly because of an insider joke, but mainly because I think of myself as some kind of jester, always trying to make a joke or two, occasionally annoying everybody around.
Drake The Punisher
06-12-2006, 06:06 PM
Personally, I was just trying to go for something memorable, interesting, and that might be the least little bit cool. Drake (in addition to being a duck-I know, I know! I didn't remember that at the time) is derived from Draco or Drako, Greek/Latin (I honestly can't remember which) word for Dragon, and from where the modern word is derived. 'The Punisher' simply because I like to be a dom, and again, I thought it sounded a little cool. Feel free to disillusion me now

Mine was given to me by CC.
It is a Welsh word which is a term of endearment such as 'darling' or 'love'. It has the meaning of soulmate and also the agape love talked about in 1 Corinthians 13 - Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
All of which gives me something to live up to!

When Master Evan and I first began our journey together, he asked me to write stories for him. He really liked one of them, and said something about posting it here. I told him I would change the name, then, because neither of us is ready to "publicly" talk about our interests. I wanted something I felt was as strong as his given name, and spent a lot of time looking through name books. Finally landed on Evan. He liked it, and that became his name for our play times. I asked him to come up with a name for me, too, and he chose Kate. When he brought me here and asked me to post, it was a natural choie.

Zinsho

Simple in my case, created a character at one point a few years ago named Zinsho Lexagen and then adopted that name as my online pseudo, as comfortable with it as my own name, at least online... then again not many people in my life offline know me by online names.
The character is very similar to me yet at the same time an alter-ego... enough of me that it is myself yet different enough that it isnt, at least currently

pixie_dust

I originally chose just pixie, because it fit my appearance pretty well. (Only 5 feet 4 inches, with a small/medium frame.) But I decided that it wasn't complete. So, after more thought I came up with pixie_dust.
I thought it interesting because the name is a meaning in itself, but you can read deeper into it. When you add the last meaning to the first, I thought it suited me very well. (Dust: v. - to reveal what is lying underneath.)
As this is the first site I have found that accepts ppl with interests and desires similar to my own, I thought it appropriate.

Lizard_King came about as I like the Door's music, but primarily as a joke one day when I was over-dosing on coffee and pretended to start seeing Lizards. When I wanted a change it fitted so well-especially as storm adores music and the Doors too.

Shortly after seeing this (http://jwz.livejournal.com/543178.html), and while watching Aeon Flux, I had to create a new email (my uni took away my old one). I spent several minutes trying to get Yahoo to accept an address: but it claimed even things like AdamLH@#$%@#$%BoogieBoogieBoo were taken. Stupid yahoo. The only thing I could get to work was the "address suggestions" option, but then only with 3 words. Electric Badger seemed like a quirkier, more science fictiony version of the fighting hamster. For a third word, Accessories seemed logical (after all, any murderous cybernetic badger would require various different items: puree, slice, grate, etc).
Once announced to a few friends, I recieved several comments that Electric Badger Accessories seemed to be either the result of a hallucinogenic induced fit or some aspect of the porn industry. Both seemed terrific to me, and the name is absolutely unique everywhere I go, so it has stuck.

Well, when I originally picked my name, I was Evan's pet and the choice was obvious to me. Recently we switched, and we both seem happier in our new roles, much to our mutual surprise. So... I'm thinking a new name is in order! Still trying to decide what I want, though.

SheepishJaina
08-05-2006, 10:07 PM
My husband/Master says that I tend to be bratty. Ususally its playfulness that comes off as being bratty. (or I seem to think so!) A lot of my friends and family add One as part of my nicknames (ex, a friend calls me sheepish one). So I combined the two. I know that a lot of subs chose to ignore capitalization in their screen names. Yeah, mine's capital, because as a general rule, I hate it when folks don't capitalize anything.
Timberwolf
08-06-2006, 12:45 AM
"Timberwolf" is a name I used in a chatroom on another site for a long time. It is something I've used as a BDSM screename. I like wolves, more or less, and there are things about how wolf packs function that fit with some D/s ideas.
I'll steal this from an information site on the creatures (edited for relevance):
"Wolves are social animals, living in a family group, or pack. A pack usually has six to ten animals: a dominant ("Alpha") male and female (the breeding pair), pups from the previous year (yearlings) and the current year's pups. Additional subordinate adults may join the pack upon occasion. The dominant pair is in charge of the pack, raising the young, selecting denning and rendezvous sites, capturing food and maintaining the territory.
How does a non-breeding wolf attain dominant, or breeding status? It can stay with its natal pack, "bide" its time and work its way up the dominance hierarchy. Or it can "disperse," leaving the pack to find a mate and a vacant area in which to start its own pack. Both strategies involve risk. A bider may be out-competed by another wolf and never achieve dominance. Dispersers usually leave the pack in autumn or winter, during hunting and trapping season.
In each pack, the dominant male and female are usually the only ones to breed. They prevent subordinate adults from mating by physically harassing them. Thus, a pack generally produces only one litter each year, averaging five to six pups."
So anyway, I find that sort of interesting.
Though really, I more or less just like wolves, and think of them as rather clever, resourceful, and even (if put into a position to be so) a dangerous opponent. And like myself, they've been known to seperate from the pack in the quest for something... more. Seemed apropriate enough for myself at the time.

My spiritual/net name is wolfscout1.
Why that name? I have always felt like I was attracted to the Wolf , and, scout comes from my military job at the time as I was an armoured cavalry scout in army. So it's a Natural combination of warrior and spirit.

well, my name was ~hellish one~, for the obvious reasons of course...including my innocent, pure and angelic nature. :D
then Master gave me my new name and asked me to change it. ~smiling~ so now i am baby girl cuz i am His baby girl! though, some people still call me hellish and i don't mind! i like both names and will answer to both! :)

03-20-2007, 07:44 AM
my name is from Master as well. He calls me "precious" so it only seemed natural to use that name here as well. *grinz* of course He normally adds other words... precious slut, precious play toy, *grinz*... etc.
Have to admit, it did take some getting used to though... "precious" to me always meant delicate/fragile in a way... something i do not see myself as. Although i think i'm slowly starting to catch on... lol

Oh sry, I forgot to post about my name, (more interested in solving the name game, I'm a geek in some ways).
No story, totally random nick, my name is too unique to put on and right now I come from a background where me being a member would be something controversial. And I am just terrible when it comes to picking a name.
Rhabbi
03-20-2007, 04:08 PM
I chose Rhabbi because I wanted something that reflected my beliefs without being overwhelming, and that would also convey my meaning without being to obscure for everyone to see.
I came up with it about 12 years ago when I created a character for a BDSM-themed MUCK and I've used it online ever since.
anonymouse
03-20-2007, 09:26 PM
Mine is newly created and intended to express 'me'. It does this on several levels.
At first glance, I think it's cute and funny - like me :)
On a deeper level, I've always been intrigued by 'anonymous' as a pseudonym, both in popular culture (eg: graffiti) and literature (eg: The Bride Stripped Bare -- even though this author was subsequently 'outed' by the press).
It's also the case that I drew quite a following over the past ten years online using another ID. While this attention was mostly enjoyable, it ultimately led to havoc in my private life. Hence, I wanted a new ID that reflected the fact I now simply want to quietly write and keep to myself - to be anonymous and quiet as the proverbial church mouse, ergo: anonymouse :)

Mine is, well, just a joke I suppose. I decided a wee while back that i wanted a name change, so I thought on it and this seemed just right for me. I like how it sounds and it's original. Also, I'm rather innocent in the ways of the world, but for some reason, everyone expects the worst of me. I didn't do it, really!
Shaded
03-21-2007, 09:18 PM
I suppose the easiest way to say it, is just because I like the sound of it, and it was once suggested to me as a friend as part of an aol screen name for a character of mine, much like Zinsho in that fashion. But as it evolved into something different, I came to understand that I, as a person, present different sides of myself to different aspects of my life, different shades if you will. So I'm Shaded.

03-23-2007, 11:27 AM
mine is not all that interesting...
i love the color violet, plus the word violet is very appealing to me for some reason. i love the way it sounds and the way it looks when written (i'm odd, i know). i have always secretly wished my parents named me Violet instead of my actual name. *sighs*
i used girl also because it is a word used heavily in the lifestyle by Doms speaking to female subs. Plus, i'm a girl...so........;) *giggles*
^firefly^
03-23-2007, 11:36 AM
mine's tough...it took me a while to come up with ^firefly^. I wanted something that reflected me, my interests, and my personality. One day a friend referred to me as "lightning in a bottle" and it make me think of catching fireflies on hot summer nights when I was a kid. It's just...me. I've always wanted wings, too, so I gave myself some.
That, and it gives me a good excuse to flash once in a while. *grins*

Psynymph
03-24-2007, 06:02 AM
erm well for those that know me.... my name will seem rather fitting....
i picked psynymph because i've been called a psychotic nympho on several occassions. which some would see being called a psycho a bad thing, but it was done so endearingly and well.... i do have a shot of insanity about my persona.
but then i had a couple people refer to my personality liken to a nymphs.... curious little creatures always seeming to cause harmless, entertaining mischief. i really liked that because that's kinda my submissive style as well...... not a brat neccessarily just overly playful. *big grin*
although now i'm called "kitten" by my Dom which seems to fit me even better.
and ooo chattel i though your name was really really quite interesting......
his_delilah (GS)
03-24-2007, 07:38 AM
Really nice thread this. And many RPG-players.
Uhm, my name. Well, as you might have guessed, Delilah comes from Samson's Delilah. I love powerful women and stories. And although I'm a submissive, I have a particular strenght I always carry with me. (Some may call it stubborness :p )
Next to that, my Master is strong and has long hair, my own Samson. And He loves to sing a song from the musical The Phantom of the Opera.
"Who was that shape in the shadows?
Whose is the face in the mask?
Damn you!
You little prying
Pandora!
You little demon - is this what you wanted to see?
Curse you!
You little lying Delilah!
You little viper - now you cannot ever be free!"
Great musical by the way. You definitly have to hear/see it.
I'm a bitchy tease, but most of all, I'm His delilah.
Fits me perfectly.

OttifantSir
04-09-2007, 11:16 AM
Thought I had posted in this thread, but obviously not, so here goes.
The Ottifant-part came from a friend of mine. I was at his place almost every weekend listening to music, talking, drinking and smoking pot/hashish. He would generally put on some music from way back (he liked the older music) and ask me if I knew the band. Most of the time I didn't. As I was also very fond of some comics he had with the ottifant-characters in them, and they are quite dumb, and I was quite dumb (un-educated would be more like it actually) about his music, he started calling me by the name Ottifant.
Sir comes from trying to get an e-mail adress on Hotmail. I had let my old one close down, and while I couldn't get into it because I didn't remember the password, the name was still taken, so I had to try to come up with some other alternative. I started by trying Modesty Blaise and Willie Garvin (love that comic), but they were both taken. So was Sir Tarrant (a distinguished older Brit running the MI-6, that is more like my personae), so I got the idea to add my old nickname to it, and Voila! E-mail adress.
On this forum, it seemed a bit crowded, so I chose to take away Tarrant at the end, instead of the ottifant-bit as I once contemplated getting that nick as my middle name. And Sir Tarrant isn't close enough to my personae that I deserve to be called that. He is a tad more eloquent, distinguished and suave and polite, etc, than me, so....
That's the story of my online-name. I use it pretty much everywhere I am. Except my e-mail.

gagged_Louise
04-09-2007, 02:47 PM
I'd been using Louise briefly before at another s/m forum; it's a name I like for its sound and it has a ladylike, classy ring to it. If I'd been "a natural gal" it's a name I would have liked to carry, so it felt nice as a female id here. "gagged Louise" felt cool and catchy, and yes, gags are a major fetish of mine. At the time I had no idea how much I would be posting here. ;)

fireandice
04-13-2007, 11:35 PM
I chose my ID name from one of my favorite poems-- key word is "one" here, I have several. It's by Robert Frost:
Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire
But if I had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate to say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice
Short, but sweet-- and the only poem originally written in English that I've managed to memorize-- Whitman is always much too long :)

SpartanPhoenix
04-29-2007, 08:36 AM
The Spartan part of my name came from the fact I have been called a spartan by a number of people, my attitude, and perspectives on life are very spartan like, and so is my body I am told. The Phoenix part come from the fact that I am a firefighter, and I love it, I never want to do any other job. The phoenix also represents me in my continuing battle with clinical depression.

Can's Peaches
04-29-2007, 10:49 AM
I picked peaches because of my real name
WyldWyl
04-30-2007, 03:34 AM
WyldWyl came from Wyl, which is the spelling of my real name that I tend to use online, and Wyld as in wild with the same spelling...eccentricity. But it's also wyld to have an assonance to Oscar Wilde, one of my favourite authors. It's also my handle on BlueStories.com, so there we go.
The poet, pundit, egomaniac line comes from my sig on the aforementioned. Because...well, I do all three quite well, frankly. And my actual sig, esti kalon, is in attic greek, which I study. It might also be correct in modern greek, I've no idea. But it means 'there is beauty.'
So, that's me.
shifha
05-03-2007, 06:15 AM

Pinoy, task, master
what's da reason? Well for one... I want everyone to know that I'm a filipino... I'm not shy nor embarrassed to say it loud. why would I? it's not like what everyone usually associate with 'I'm proud to be a filipino nor I'm proud to be an american nor a chinese... whatever (u get my idea)' my point is I was born a filipino so I hav to be proud of it... its not like I hav a say bout it... besides there's no point in doing NEGATIVE reinforcement in one's self by saying I despise being a filipino, now ain't it?
Well... the rest of my I'D just followed... bdsm = task, master = dom... get my drift?
I hav yet to find a pic though... *sad*

Lonely Puppet
05-29-2007, 04:22 PM
Well, "Puppet" comes from the metaphorical meaning of puppet, meaning someone who follows the commands of someone else. Lonely, well, that's sadly self-explanitory.
Also, together, it does have a nice poetic ring to it. A puppet without a controller, longing for someone to pull his strings.

Echoes
06-02-2007, 08:49 PM
I always thought to myself as long as I can remember even as a child, first writing, describe an echo...
The most profound intensity, almost a peak was the last two summer with my grandfather, the loons on the river, his passing and on the same year they blew the lower dam, the river now a splashing path of streams this was felt. Walking years later with my sister...how the fog would settle and grass become damp, coolness shivering through bones, almost haunted...but in a way safe, writing poetry until it got too dark to see, going in and settling around the big black wood stove, polished smooth but beaming heat...so soothing
the drinking, always but knowing it was safer here...then going to bed at the sound of their voices telling stories...sort of comfortable, grandpa's always the loudest and heartiest. I don't ever recall his voice sounding drunk
sidetracked!
I am not sure how to say it.

" This clerk was called the clever Nicholas;
Of secret loves he knew and their solace;
And he kept counsel, too, for he was sly
And meek as any maiden passing by.
He had a chamber in that hostelry,
And lived alone there, without company... "

Without a home, without a friend, without a face to say hello to.
But now the night is here, and i can make believe He's here..."
Though unlike Eponine's, my situation was not of unrequited love, i ended up feeling alone... so that was that...

the full name is Allen Rowshack. Edgard (Allen) Poe. Rowshack is a bastard version of Rorschach from Moore's "Watchmen". I create unde the name and don't want to be sued if i ever make anything worth being sued for.
Don't worry, Moore got it from the real guy who developed the test. You won't be sued.
And I named my cat Rorschach after Moore's character (Walter Kovacs if I remember right) and almost named his brother Nite Owl to match.

Similar to Your Avatar...Why?
The reason for this thread is because everyone has unique and interesting name and wondered, how and/or why, you picked your ID Name and what it means to you.
i chose my name because i was in a D/s relationship (online) for 8 months and my favorite name he called me was little one, hence "lil." i chose a middle name "sub" because that is who i am and want to be, and "angel" because our relationship had "died"--i felt i died along with it. :( i want to start over and learn so much so that i don't make the mistakes that ended our relationship in the first place. i do want a D/s relationship again someday only this time i want it to last forever.

I think she (Michelle Pfeiffer) was a hawk by day, human by night. But he (Rutger Hauer) was a wolf by night, human in the daytime. They could speak to each other only briefly at dusk and dawn -- it was a curse laid on them by the corrupt Bishop.
It was up to the young thief (Matthew Broderick) to set things right.
Cool story, 1985.

Mine is just what I use everywhere else, helps so I dont have to keep track of 15 million names.
Hey bxracer1 -- using the same unique nick on all your logins net-wide is not really all that good if you want anonymity. A single Google search on that unique nick easily pulls up your first name, age, city of residence, university, and other fun facts. And the longer you use the name, the more information will show up in Google for it.
I'm sure you've got nothing to hide, but others who use this same strategy without thinking may not realize how glaringly open it leaves their personal details. I once googled someone I met through a business context and found her private dating logins and lingerie photos she'd put on them.
Sometimes it's better to keep track of 15 million names, or at least one for work, one for home, and one for where you don't want to be found from the other two! :)
It's also good to choose aliases that already exist elsewhere on the web. My own nick googles out to a few other places rather similar to this one, with about the same information, plus several other people's who've chosen the same nickname. This way I can plausibly deny some of them.
Mods -- apologies for using a sockpuppet for this post. I was about to post it under my own name and realized that I too have more stuff on Google under my nickname than I really wanted there. So the advice applies to me too. Please have mercy on this post, it's intended for everyone's benefit.

Hehe, we're getting cryptic with phonetics, Nick. But that makes sense... If you do it with the "eth" it would be phoneticially "Th'Master, with it being a voiced "th" sound. So, "Tha'Master."

i got my nick a very long time ago from my first love. At that time i was on the C.B and needed a nick as the one i had i kind of grew out of. It was eager beaver. My mom had given it to me as i was always eager to get on the C.B. radio, but as i started to grow up in my teens the boys thought it meant something else. So i needed a new handle.
The first time i met my b/f back then it was during a snowfall. i was very shy back then, but after a bit i decided we should get to know eachother, and we fell into puppy love.
One night the song "Snowflake" by Jim Reeves came on, and he said thats it, that should be your new handle, as it descrbes my love for you completely. Thus the name.
My ex Dom called me painslubsassy, but when i got with my b/f now that i have know all those years, he changed my name back to snowflake in the email i sent him, and he returned.
He may not be the same boy, we were all friends back then, and he has been around just as long, and loves me even more.
Here are the words if anyone is interested ..lol

Euryleia
07-26-2007, 09:56 AM
Euryleia was one of the Amazons who went to free Antiope following her abduction by Theseus.
While Theseus had been abducting Queen Hippolyta’s sister, his companion, Hercules, had been stealing the golden girdle as his 9th labor. The subsequent battle between the Amazons and Athenians is called the Attic War.
The name means ‘wandering woman’ and, as I was raised an army brat and still love to travel, I felt it suited me to a T.

You might be interested in knowing that the term has an Anglo Saxon origin (whereas the term slave is, I beleive, Greco-Roman).
I have occasionally DJ'd fetish nights. I still do if someone were to pay me to do it. Actually, you don't even need to pay me... just chain me to the DJ deck and have someone whip me when I am not quick enough on the change overs :)
Rowen
06-25-2008, 12:03 PM
Well….since I was one of the three asking Thrall it’s only fair I tell the origin of my name as well. It is a long story however….My name started as coincidence...Boundtowrite was the name I made up the first time I registered, when I was still about to leave the internet. When I had to create the email-account that went with it I used some letters of my name forming Rowen.
While still roaming the net I learned that during the 19th century a Rowen (there meaning "rough, uncivilised") figure lived in my native region.
He was an ugly, big figure, full of scars, missing one eye. Wandering around dressed in lumps he was a disreputable and fearsome sight. However he was in fact a gentle, caring man, a healer for the poor, knowing to treat bleedings, burns and help with deliveries.
In my real life I work in the health services being somewhat unorthodox at that, once being into martial arts, still riding motorcycles, in love with (hard) rock music. People are sometimes at first intimidated by my confronting approach and posture, then apreciating the underlying care, interest and basic kindness that sometimes literally is life-changing (really, not bragging here) Those traits, as nice as they may be, and perhaps also representing the “submissive part” of me are however some of the remainders of an unpleasant childhood, a bit like the scars of the real Rowen......
Meanwhile, it was by this alter ego Rowen I started mailing with the lesbian couple in Florida (the wonders of the internet, and yes, I do have this thing with f/f domination!) At first dominating her slave but more and more the inevitable happened and I surrendered to the mistress. Silly as that may sound: a doctor surrendering online to an American lesbian dominant it is still true.
In that same period I got fond of this forum, it felt as homecoming, a safe have…(Thrall, once again, thanks for counselling me so wisely then!)
So Rowen also marks my coming out, accepting what and who I am at 43, even if that is only on the internet, after a lifelong struggle, still struggling and searching however.
It was for those reasons I asked mistress permission to use Rowen as my new alter ego. It stands for so much. The avatar also btw, but that’s a different story altogether.
The MTP I added because Rowen was already in use – even if the last login was a year ago. I mailed a printscreen of it to mistress, as a gift… Afterwards, Thrall suggested Rowen. (that’s Rowen “.”) and as a good submissive I asked my mistress for permission to change it.
However after days of sudden silence, getting more worried by the day (Thrall, Euryleia and Pertez, thanks again), I learned yesterday she was out of the hospital after a car accident! Deeply touched that she mailed me, that bloke on the other side of the Atlantic, on her cell right after she was out of the hospital. I must admit I experience the same worries, shock and stress as I would for one of my R/L friends.
While writing this her slave mailed me, telling me mistress has sustained no serious injuries (sooo glad to read that) And however she still is tired and in pain, it looks like she is gonna be OK soon. Of course I ordered the slave to take excellent care of her mistress!!

Boo was another nick name with the old chat room friends. Because I always said (and still say), "boo."
The 'dust' I tacked on because I adore the Disney cartoon Peter Pan. "PixieBoo" didn't sound right.

I can't really say exactly when I got my nick, as I've been carrying it through my virtual life since the old BBS-and-acoustic-coupler days, when the internet was hardly known and you had to dial in, push your order for a web file, then wait for a day or two until the BBS had forward your request to a gateway and received the answer, then dial in again and fetch the file, instead of just clicking on a link like nowadays. Back then, time was counted in bytes, and when you listened very carefully, you were almost able to discern individual characters in the digital streams. Sometimes, when adventure was calling, you'd set the alarm clock to midnight - when long distance calls were at least less expensive - and tried to dial into a foreign system, trying to glimpse a few pieces of leftover information that weren't ment for your eyes. Of course always ready to pull the phone plug from the socket in case you heard the telltale sound of a call tracking device.
So after all those adventures in my youth and sleepless nights with pizza and coke I've built a somewhat romantic relashionship with my nick :)

Adriana is my real name. Its actually my middle name, but its the one I have always went by. It means "dark".
Aurora is just something I have always liked. It was the name of my cousins girlfriend, I was 12 at the time they dated and I thought she was so cool. It means "dawn".
I like the contrast, "dark dawn", it describes me well.
Rubberwolf

Mine is a bit around the houses, but here goes:
I read a lot and, when I was first deciding upon an e-mail address, I was heavily into the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series (Werewolfs and Vampires and Demons, oh my). So my e-mail address just had to have a wolf in it.
As stated, I read a lot. On the net, I tended to read extensively. I have eclectic tastes. Anyway, this gave me all sorts of interesting fetish ideas to explore, altthough the Rocky Horror and Westward Bound Fetish balls played their part. The end result is that I like rubber. I occasionally like to live in a kennel and play fetch (I do like to have my tummy tickled) and I also like to fit a bridal to the other half and take her for a run, as well as the more usual BDSM stuff.
And then I started writing. I needed a name that would fit my self image when penning stories. Rubberwolf fits. So there I am.

My best friend from Freshman year in high school until now calls me Shwenn. It's a bastardization of my actual name, Gwen. He comes up with infinite variations. Shwennilicious. Shwennescent one. Shwennebell. He never runs out.

I've been sisterhoney for a long time now, originally having started out on Yahoo chat quite a number of years ago. I am a Stevie Nicks fan and I had originally planned on calling myself Gold Dust Woman. But then I realized that people on chat would start calling me Goldie or Dusty and that would make me feel like I was a golden retriever. So then I picked Sisterhoney, from her song "Sister Honey" from her "Rock a Little" CD. I knew that I wouldn't mind being called Sister or Sis or Honey online. I saw that there were quite a number of people online called Sisterhoney, so I added the 61, which is my birth year. Then later I added the RW for my Master, RedWraith.
Asmodeuss

Well Asmodeuss is my last name but mythologically Asmodeus is a demon characterized by carnal desire.
The figure of Ashmedai in the Talmud is less harmful in character than Tobit's Asmodeus. In the former,
he appears repeatedly in the light of a good-natured and humorous fellow. But besides that, there is
one feature in which he parallels Asmodeus, inasmuch as his desires to turn upon Solomon's wives and
Bath-sheba. But even here Ashmedai seems more comparable to a Greek satyr rather than to an evil demon.
Another Talmudic legend has King Solomon tricking Asmodai into collaborating in the construction
of the temple of Jerusalem. In yet another legend Asmodai changed place's for some years with
King Solomon. An aggadic narrative describes him as the king of all the shades (Pesachim 109b-112a).
Another passage describes him as marrying Lilith, who became his queen.[3]
It is also stated that he was the off-spring of the union between Adam and
the angel of prostitution, Naamah, conceived whilst Adam was married to Lilith.
This wikipedia entry hs more about him

shade s
08-18-2008, 04:38 PM
Mine is more of an evolution i have used a few different names that are almost identical like shader, sade and others not really sure how it started. But the different changes have been due to different names having been taken on different sites. Thou for now shade s seems to be enough of a variation for most places so that is the name (until next time).
If i may add to fetishdj's description of the origins of thrall then i have this to say .
In danish the word trald (the same as thrall only in danish) has a very specific meaning. It is a slave captured in a viking raid and made to be an (unvilling) servant or the son or daughter of the same. Probably also from here it made it into the anglo saxon language since the vikings both raided and settle land i norhern england.
You know when the english men had to explain to each other were all the women had gone. "the vikings took them as tralde"
just an interesting fact thou i might be wrong as to what way the word travelled

Day-new-say-ree, in that language
I choose my current name, Mirror because of a theory on human social interation that I hold dear, and my soon to be changed name 'Seri' was given to me by Friday, and I happen to like the sound of that one a lot more.
