umm, for those of U/us who adored the tale of Phedre no Delaunay in the Kushiel trilogy by Jacqueline Carey, there's a new book due in June 2006 - Kushiel's Scion!
see http://www.jacquelinecarey.com for more details :)

Great news. I loved the trilogy and didn't know that there were going to be any more in the series.

Book is out, i bought it, read it, loved it. Though Imriel is a little too chicken about exploring his 'darker side' for my satisfaction (though it's really understandable), not as much kinky sex as in Phedre's books.
I won't post any spoilers, but I will - my favourite character development came from Sidonie, and it was very cool seeing the nice side of the Shahrizai.

Got it as soon as it came out (overnight from amazon) Loved it. I hope it gets kinkier as Imriel grows up!

I agee that Imriel was a bit of a chicken, I was also a little disappointed that there wasn't much going on with Phedre either. Although it's nice to see the characters in the story progress with age, it wouldn't have been bad to see more involving Phedre and Joscelin. Hope there's more coming.

Aye...Carey did state plainly that this was a movement to the next generation and Phedre would not be a central part of the action, but I didn't really get enough energy from Imriel to keep me as involved as I was with the first trilogy. There's only so much guilty-angsty-indecisive teenager I can take before I want to scream. And the sex was...well, horrid.
All in all, a rough start, but I still hold hopes the next books will improve things.
And yes...I honestly left it thinking I'd have much prefered a book about sidonie.
