jennyfer has just reminded me of this one (so blame her)

FIREWORKS BETTER THAN I

I sit in the pub. It’s too early for booze.
My mind’s clear enough to be struck by the Muse.
As I look round the pub and look out at the views
I’m intrigued by a sign that reads “Firework Menus”

I assume that it means that one sits and one eats
While fireworks outside bang and light up the streets.
But my brain is quite clear and performing strange feats
Suggesting that fireworks are served for hot treats.

The pub food is fast food the chef makes in a flash.
A gunpowder favourite is “Bangers and Mash”
A nice Rocket Salad for a dinner time bash
Wouldn’t stay on the plate long but would go in a flash

If it’s meat that you favour as the star of your meal
Then you can’t go far wrong with a Catherine Veal.
This dish turns around quick and I can’t help but feel
If you want a good spread then it’s quite a good deal.

The wine list is extensive with white sparkler wines
That whoosh with strong flavours as everyone dines.
The crackers and cheese have gone off like old mines
And the Publican faces some rather stiff fines.

As an illuminating thought I would suggest that it’s the truthious
That a brain free from drink will go far to provious
That a firework menu is actually quite obscurious
As a dessert made up to look like Mount Verservious!
