I noticed that the chat room has a banner ad now. Thats cool to help fund things. Can the flash rate of the ad be reduced some? I don't even get one sentence out, and the screen refreshes the ad, and I have to click the screen mid-sentence. Can the rate be reduced, or put the ad in a frame that refreshes seperate from the chat window?

the only thing I saw in the chat area was a pop up ad---that is easily taken care of with a pop up blocker ---I had to disable mine to even see it

Rabbit1: There's a banner ad that, when it refreshes, makes the whole screen refresh. Some people are seeing it, but others aren't.

The ad at the top of the window. I have a pop-up blocker with firefox. bdsmlibrary.com is not exempted. Here is screen shot of what I see....

At the top of the screen you see a banner ad. The html source for the picture is www.bdsmlibrary.com. If I use the option to block pictures, it asks for the root url that being bdsmlibrary.com and I don't want to do that. Everytime that banner refreshes, it refreshes the chat area, removing the cursor as I type, wich in turn requires me to click back in the window to continue typing.

Thanks for looking into it.

As I was thinking about it, it occured to me that the chat area is using java to support the chat program. The opening window would need to be restructered to contain both the banner ad, and the chat area in seperate frames, the frame refresh rate in each would need to be written so that the banner ad loads seperate from the chat area.

So now that I have just described the solution, I have spoken over my own skill level (slaps forehead). I have no idea how to do that.

lol I do not see that window when I go into chat---I go there using IE and a popup blocker and have never seen it ---so maybe that is your solution ---use a different browser ---easier for a member to do that than try to change codes---I am glad Maddie said something about others not seeing it ---and I am glad you took the screenshot---It lets me know that different browsers see different things--my chat window covers my whole browser window---

Rabbit, I've tried it using IE and it gives me that with the pop-up set to medium, yet if I use FireFox the way I'd prefer it ends up crashing after a while for some odd reason, or maybe that was just bad luck the other night.

Although it does refresh it doesn't seem to ruin my cursor though, simply change the picture at the top while I'm typing, at least that I've noticed. So maybe people get different degrees of the same thing depending on different settings somewhere.

Ok tried IE. The ad is still there, however the refresh doesnt kill the cursor. So I will be using IE for chat (almost pukes as I say that) till the refresh problem works its self out.

Thanks for your time and suggestions everyone.

maybe ---I do not go to the chat room very often ---mostly just to check to see if it is up and running---and I guess it could be according to what popup blocker you are using ---as mine has no medium setting ---it is either off or on ---and you are right there are so many different IPs and setting ---so according to how you have your personal setting on your computer set up could be alot of the problems ---Like I said I am not a compurte guru---I learned what little I know thru Trial and Error about the setting ---so without being able to see anyone elses settings ---I have not a clue as to the problem ---I do know there must be a way around some of this without changing the server setting because half the problems members are having ---I do not see ---unless I turn a setting off of my computer--I like Firefox too but the system is optimised for IE the most popular browser ---Firefox works here but there are some things that work better with IE--
