View Full Version : Fire Play Experience
I was enjoying reading everyones comments about electrical play, and canning. Both activities can be edge play activities. It occurred to me that a discussion about fire play might be interesting to talk about.
So here goes....
My experience with fire play, both as an observer, and as a participant were very exciting. When I was the observer, I learned a lot about technique as well as materials to use and what materials not to use. For instance, cloth medical tape used for band aids should be used, and plastic medical tape used for band aids should not be used. I learned how to apply the accelerate (rubbing alcohol in this case) and how to ignite and extinguish, leaving it burning long enough for the submissive to feel, yet not be burned. When I got the opportunity to participate, it was truly exhilarating. Seeing fire float across the skin following whatever path you put down with the accelerate. I learned that a dimmed room is ok to play in, and that a room with nearly no light is dangerous for the submissive. I learned that one submissive enjoyed watching the fire upon her chest and abdomen, while another enjoyed the feel, but could not watch it.
So now that I have wrote about my experience, does anyone have any thing to add, experiences, fears, or whatever you feel appropriate?

i have experienced fire play several times...i enjoy it very much...i suppose the 'fear factor' has much to do with my liking of this particular activity. when one is bound..helpless...and there are trails of fire running around breasts, nipples..belly....oh my..hard to describe the things that run thru one's mind...important however, that submissive and Dominant KNOW...what they are doing. saw a nasty accident once....someone was burned quite badly and had to be taken to the emergency room...not..easy to explain <chuckle>

Nope, can't think of any. Not one. ;)
Seriously, I've never heard of this before. I have a hard time imagining trusting someone enough to do this, either.

Yes the first time I tried it was on a submissive. I had an expereinced person there with me to assist, to ensure nothing happened. Very memorable experience.

That is just amazing. I can hardly think of a safe way to do it, but obviously it has been done. Do you have to ignite and then extinguish within a few seconds or what?

Fire Play is extremely dangerous. I knew this couple that had a fire play scene once and their house went up in flames.
There are several things to know beforehand:
The basic firefighting equipment ready, fire extinguisher or, at the very least, a good couple of buckets of water, sand is also very good at firefighting.
You should also remember not to have any flammable objects near the area were You're playing with fire. Be smart enough and don't try to do fireplay with the subbie tied to the bed, Unless you want barbecued subbie LOL Mosquito netting is also a hazard in this kind of scene. It burns fast, sticks to other objects (including skin) and it's very hard to put out the fire on it once it's started.
Also, make sure that if you are gonna tie your subbie down, you have a pair of surgical scissors (the kind with blunt tips but sharp as knifes) handy, to cut Her/Him loose . I don't recommend locks being mixed with fireplay, it takes a long time to get the damn things off when you are in a hurry. so, if you like bondage mixed with your fireplay, please only use ropes and keep the scissors handy!
Now, Make sure you pull the hair back because hair burns really fast, also put a wet wash cap over the subbies hair.

As it was said, safety is very important, so a good ABC fire extinquisher nearby is a good idea. A rubber matting underneath the play area is a good idea to help prevent dripping flames ignition of things like carpet or other such items that might be underneath the submissive.
Tools/Items needed - Use two WOODEN chopsticks, both have a cotton ball attached to the chopstick with COTTON medical tape. Have PLEANTY of water nearby, at waist level is best, in the water have a cotton cloth soaking in the water. A container of nearly 100% alchohol, rubbing or isopropyl is the best choice.
Technique - Using one chopstick/cottonball 'wand' dip it so that it is soaking in the alchohol, then when it is soaked, you make a trail with the alchohol. Be sure to avoid pooling alchohol, as this will cause severe burning. Use the other 'wand' and soak it in alchohol. Then light the second wand on fire. The flame should evelope the cotton ball, and total size should be approximately twice the size of the cotton ball (scary big). Use the flamming 'wand' to light the trail of alchohol you made with the first wand. Important item to remember is the alchol will evaborate very quickly if you apply it correctly. So your movements MUST be swift at ALL times. Now you don't want the flames to be active for more than a couple seconds. This is where the soaking cloth (hand towel works very well here) comes into play. You use the soaking cloth to extinquish any runs of alchohol that may drip down the side of the submissive, as well as wipe away any lingering flames. A room that is dimmed works good for this cause lighter flames are dangerous and hard to see in a well lighted room.
If your wanting to attempt this, and don't have the assistance of someone who has done it. Use a ceramic surface to practice on. This will not burn, and you can see how to apply the wand wipe technique before attempting it on your valued submissive.
Enjoy!
