I don't know about others but I'm getting a bit bored with the same old thing in stories - girl gets captured, girl gets abused, girl gets to like it or girl dies.

Let's have more stories where the female character has personality and is not just a body.

I draw your attention to "Forever" by Dingo Dave, "How I became a bondage wife" By Master2124 and "Karen and the Torture Club" by Richard

I believe that these stories are all the more erotic because the female character is actuall willing to explore the game and to develop a love of the sensations without being flogged to death.

The situations are realistic and one can visualise them easily. Moreover one does not become revolted by sadizm and butchery.

Am I alone in thinking this way?

No, you're not alone!

I've been guilty of that sort of writing to a certain extent, simply because I like to write stories where the gal gets in over her head, but ends up liking it.

Writing "realistic" stories (where the gal hates it throughout, or loves it from the start) are much more difficult. Simple as that. I've done one of each, and they were both very sticky to work out how the characters worked.

It's like asking "why are Hollywood films so generic?" - it's because it's easier!

That's a good point Qmog.

I agree that giving the character a personality is tough - I guess what I'm looking for is for folks to make the effort

I concur. I see a lot of Non-Consent stories and some are very good, but there seems to be a lack of decent Consentual stories. =) I know the authors will write what they want, but it'd be nice to add a few more romantic stories about the "loving Dom." I see too many stories with no aftercare and the Doms as complete hardasses.

I do understand where Q is coming from though. I used to write quite a lot (Not Erotica) and I know that it's quite difficult to thoroughly define your characters and make them interact functionally with the other characters.

A suggestion.... for those who would like to see a different style of stories here, about joining the writers' block and developing your own writing skills, and then you could write exactly what you would like to see here, and maybe encourage others to follow suit.

Good idea, cariad. =) Perhaps I'll do just that.

I have one posted at the main site"What if we wanted" that is nearing it's end (It's rather long) and a new one, that will be ready in a few days. (Not as long)

Realism is something I've been working on in my recent stories, both realistic characterisation (very hard!) and fairly realistic scenarios (with a little dramatic licence). They are all fairly consensual. I'd love your comments on how to improve in this regard Sweep (and others).

The latest story i wrote was like this. I was trying to get it as close to something "real" as possible. However in the end, there was no sex or anything that happened. I'm hesitant to write the next part, mainly because I dont think that I can keep that feeling of the events being realistic once it moves into "sex".

This is definately something I find to be very frustrating. Especially personally as I feel more comfortable writing things that are romantic vs "hot"

Are you looking for feedback on one story or all of them? Please post a link to your stories on the Library and feel free to open a new thread in the "Author's Place" with any specific questions you might want answered, or things you'd like to see reviewed.

Hang in there, sheepish!

Some of the most romantic and hot scenes I've ever read skipped writing about the actual sex. They built the tension, took the reader for a ride and "then they kissed like there was no tomorrow" and ended the chapter leaving the actual act to the reader's imagination.

Do what's best for your story and your comfort level. Your readers will thank you.

Sweep,

i had a story put on the main site back in August. It may be what you are looking for. (link below) At least a bit of a change. The reality of the time line might be a bit far fetched to some but that is how the story came to me. i am working on another one, sort of a follow up, but the only way i can write and get the feeling and emotion i expect from a story is when i am in the right mind frame and truly inspired. Which i was for the one posted but haven't been super inspired since that point.

i understand your frustration though, i also enjoy a good story where the depth of the relationship (even if sex is never actually written about) is explored and captured.

Anyhow...

Ok, This is where I get to brag and indulge in some shameless self-promotion. :noprobs:

My stories fit that description. I do not care for nc stories either. That said - I've seen several that were quite well done and enjoyable, but the consensual tales seem more like what r/l could be if......well, you know.

I've just finished the last two installments of Ponygirls for Hire, and the last part of Kari in Training has been sent in for posting, all are consensual, but things did not always go as the sub, slave, or ponygirl had intended, just like real life.
Part 2 of Pussycat - the Story of Asia - is in it's final edit and should be sent in later today - it's 8:20AM here now - It was to be a photo-story with photos supplied by Asia {Beautiful} but Rabbit1 has had trouble with the software and I had to post the photos in a thread in the forum, part 2 may not have any photos in it. {I can assure you, they are very delictable} :blurp_ani

I must admit to preferring non-consensual stories. I suppose I am looking more for fantasy when I read fiction here, exploring the extremes. We can all do the consensual stuff, so I enjoy reading about the things we can't do :)

Having said that, my very favourite story on the whole site is consensual - but I forget the name of it, arghh. Really long, possibly by an author called Something-Smith. Damn.
