View Full Version : Is it time for a poetry section in the library?

I am wondering if there should not be a poetry section in the library now. There is a lot of really good poems coming out now and because of the nature of threads they tend to get a little buried.
In the library people could see if there was more by that author and those who enjoy having a more public viewing can get that too. Any thoughts?

I don't see any reason why not to have one. There are times when I'd like some of my own work to be seen on a wider scale... even if I am sure I will get a handful of "hey, your shit doesn't rhyme" messages.
It will never rival the main story section for popularity but if I was looking to win a popularity contest, I wouldn't be writing niche poetry on a niche forum to begin with!
Besides, I for one would be interested in seeing if a poetry addition to the library spawned a bit of an outburst of new material from otherwise unseen sources.

well while the story side does not really have categories ---all it does have is story codes---which are searchable ---I am afraid they too would get buried in the mass of stories ---but if enough members respond to this and want a new story code for poems ---I will add it ---by enough I do mean over 100 different member responses ---out of 17,000+ members that is not a large response

I do! I do! i would love to have my written work seen by more viewers. Or is it possible to have a link posted on the home page of the Library section to the poetry sections here at the forums? Just a thought..........

God, please no! lol I don't want my first steps writing poetry seen by everyone *shudders*. I do like the idea of a poetry section on the main page, though....but please, leave it open for the people who really want to go public with this. ;)

Thanks, hon...but I wasn't fishing for compliments, lol. It's just the same reason I don't post stories on the main page...I'm a perfectionist that way, and leave the public posts to the people who deserve to be there. The forums are my safe learning environment...and even posting my own stuff here is hard. I wouldn't have posted that poem had it been a more public outing. ;)
So, I'll stay with my last post - poetry forum on the main page, yes...making our forum public, please no.

I think it is a terrific idea. My Joe is a wonderful poet and I would love to see some of his stuff on here as well as read others work.

Looking around at the posting habits of the forum, I doubt we have more than 150 "regulars" who ever post anything on some basis, as a generous estimation.
The 100 number isn't even remotely obtainable from that core, c'mon Rabbit you surely knew that when you set that one up.

lol, then it's time to wake those lurkers up...if you like to read the poetry here...VOTE! All it takes is a simple 'yes'...
If they can't even do that, I guess they're not all that interested. ;)

Wake them up love ----rally them ----get out the whips ---borrow SBs guns
PM your friends ---Talk about it in the chat room ---withhold sex from your mate----lol
good start would be to get the authors of the poems already posted in the forum to vote
I see a few of them have not even commented

We now have a poll going in the poetry section..please put your vote there! We need them. I have only given this poll a month to generate the amount of interest needed...so please vote. I figured if we can't get enough in that amount of time....why have the code for poetry? I want this very badly so I am pushing as much as I can......SO VOTE!
