Hi,

I noticed since the switch to the new server that the site is laying out a bit differently. Everything is much "narrower". I am finding that this results in making the site look "squished" -- especially on a wide-screen monitor where most of the screen is now blank.

Also, and I am not sure if it is related, but when I read the stories, I am finding the right side margin is cutting off words (part 12 of Polecat's story "What if she Wanted..." is one example). Is it possible to go back to the old layout and to fix the chopping off of words in the stories?

Thanks,
e

When you view a story you may need to set your browser to smaller type to keep it from running of the right margin

as far as the forum ---this layout has been faster loading and let problems than the old one ---I do not forsee it going back

It looks like the problem I reported with words getting cut off is limited to the one story I mentioned. Rabbit1, can you see if it can be fixed. Changing text size does not make any difference.

As far as the smaller size. I am actually noticing on my computer (with a 30 MB/s download speed) that it is loading slower than before -- and much harder to read...

Well I am not going to argue the fact of what is faster for you as I have no way of proving or disproving it ---the fact is the new layout will stay ---sorry if it is slower for you ---the owner likes it ---I like it and the majority of the members like it ---but the owner who pays the bills for this free site is the main one who has to be satisfied with it

To be more specific, I am finding that the site consitently hangs after loading the top banner. It often takes 5 or more seconds for the rest of the site to load -- if at all. More than once (more like every 3rd time), I have to do a shift-refresh, to get the site to load completely.

The top banner loads instantly, the rest of the site, however, is hit and miss on its loading. I have cleared the cache, deleted the temp files, etc., but the problem is persisting. I did not have this before the server switch.

Finally, can you look into the issue I raised with Part 12 of "What if she Wanted..." by Polecat. It has happened on all three of my computers, as has the load issue. The two computers have different monitors and internet connections, so it is not simply my computer.

Thanks,
e

Really I don't believe there is much we as mods can do for this. The site owner decides what goes, and being a free site it is what it is. The advertising banner at the top helps to pay for the bandwidth, so its not going anywhere...

Not to be harsh at all but waiting a few seconds or refreshing the pc seems a small price to pay for a site like we have.. its one of the most exstensive I have seen.

have you tried changing your screen resolution? Like the 800 x 600 etc. it may help. To be honest, I haven't really noticed a change of anything signifigant.. the site has been loading faster for me and is having no crashes..

I'll take lag over 20 minutes of down time 3 times a day....

thank for the inquery though, we always appreciate feedback, but there is little we can do. I am sure if Rabbit figures out a way or the site owner they will do their best to make this site the best it can be..
