I have been having problems access this site with earthlink. The only way i can is through a proxy server. That in itself is no problem. The problem I am an Admin over at the acdemy and i can't get access to the Admin panel through a proxy. does anyone know a way around this until earthlink fixes their FUCKING server. They had no idea how long it would be

hello redhot.

I was experiencing a similar problem to yours (http://www.bdsmlibrary.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7462 ) and I have found a solution. I encourage you to try the OpenDNS solution mentioned at that thread

did that and still can't access without going through a proxy. normally it would be fine but as I am an Admin at the Acdemy I can't get into the Admin panel. Most proxys wont let me in there period bnecause of the way the Acdemy is set up to log in. Makes it quit frustrating

you still should be able to log in thru a proxy ---just clear your cookies from your computer ---then you will have to manually log in using your log in name and password ---the site is looking at the cookies stored on your computer -as far as your IP address

I have cleared my cookies like 5 times yesterday. Everytime I taked with the idiot techs that is the first thing they told me to do. LOL That is the first thing I did friday when I encountered this problem. Since I have not been able to log in directly there is no cookies on my pc for the site to see. Some of the proxy tells me that it can't do the posts through their site something about http ot something simaliar the others tells me that the Admin has to add the proxy site I am using to their white list. I have only found one and it would not let me log into the admin panel, or see any of the drop down boxes that I use daily. IE quicklinks that i use to access who is online or the last posts for the past 24 hours. This is getting very frustrating.

Have you tried changing browsers? Opera Fire Fox, or something, just to check its not a browser setting?

If you can get in with one browser and not another, its a browser setting, if it doesn't matter what browser, then its either IP, website setting, or could be something with your exceptions in your security settings for windows. For that last one, make sure you have windows SP2 for XP installed, and then check any internet blocking software you have. Norton is pretty bad about this particular feature.

it is with Earthlink's server. They could not access it either on there system. that is why it took about 6 hours for them to relise it was not my Pc or browser, or the site itself. The only way they could access it is through a proxy too. I had already tried clearing cookies and all that and everything you mentioned before calling them.

and I have all firewalls turned off because of that reason. so it is not a fire wall it is with the server itself.

What I meant is, with the proxy server you are using. Have you tried using a different browser to access the site, see if you get the same results?

redhot; in my thread, I mentioned that I used a proxy to log in while my dns wasn't working... http://www.theproxyfree.com/ It allowed me to log in to the forums here, so it should probably work at the academy as well.

Hmm, I did frequent the Academy once...good times...

they finally fixed the problem took them like 3 days to fix it. the proxy problems came to do with the way the Acdemy is set up to read the PC's IP address and the way it loggs you in.
