Ok...i have now logged out of this site 5 or more times.

Each time it says "do you wish to log out" i click "ok" and then it takes me to the "all cookies have been cleared" screen.

But... even if i close the browser and reopen it i am STILL logged in. It isn't letting me go!

HELP!

I have even now tried my window washer program... thinking that would clear out the passwords, log ins, etc. since it normally does and THAT didn't even work!

Double HELP!

Have you tried using the Task Manager to close out of here? Sometimes I find that a program like IE doesn't close out correctly and by closing it in the Task Manager all seems to work again.

To access it, right the task bar and choose Task Manager then look on the Application and also the Processes tab and see if that helps.

I will try that... but i am not using IE7 any longer. Haven't been for about a week. The silly thing started locking up... so i switched to Firefox.

And up until today i have had NO troubles what so ever...

Open up a Firefox window then click on "Tools" and then "Clear Private Data". make sure every box is ticked then click "Clear Private Data Now" and see if that helps.

Try the three finger salute (control-alt-delete).

Try the three finger salute (control-alt-delete).

I have found that doesn't always work in XP but using the Task Manager usually works like a charm if you know what program or process to look for and tell it to end. I really have no idea why (control-alt-delete) doesn't work when it should.

I just tried it and had no problem... so being unable to recreate your problem, I can't help you debug it.

Sorry.

Well.. um... Oz, thanks i think!

Actually i was finally able to get logged out of here... but i did it through the academy. (i have NO clue how that works but everytime i log out of the academy it logs me out here and that worked this morning.)

i just tried hellish's suggestion and will see if that helps in a bit when i'm done!

Thanks for all of the advice!

now I see the probelm ---if you log on to the library then go to the academy and you log off in the academy you are still logged in on the library ---and the reverse is true ---especially if you are using the links to go from the Library to the Academy ----since both forums have the same IP address I am afraid to completely log out you must log out of both of the forums

Ummmmmmm Sir Rabbit... IF (which is the question here) i understand what you are saying that isn't what happened.

In the past i have been on the forum, used the link to the academy, then logged out of the academy and was logged out of the forum at the same time.

Sooooooo.. when the problem started this morning and i couldn't log out i purposefully went to the academy, as i had been doing, and logged in and out so that it would log me out on the forum as well since it wouldn't do it any other way today. BUT... until that point i had not been in the academy since late yesterday.

Anyhow... after THAT above i decided to try and log out again this time...
and was able to without trouble...

so i have NO clue.. but at the moment i can log out, i'm happy!

Thanks! *grinz*

I can only think that either it did not log you out of the Academy or the Library yesterday ---one or the other did not completely log out ----it may have been a time out in the server that cause this ---but either way it is a good thing for everyone to try who uses both the academy and the library if they have trouble loging out

I am using widows xp with IE7. The windows task manager opens up automatically when I use the three finger salute (control-alt-delete). Have you run your spyware and antivirus programs?

Those run auto on my system full time (part of why i always have lag)...

and at this point IE7 won't even open without faulting...

and when my system was new from the store and i loaded XP, before IE7 i still could not open the task menu with control/alt/delete....

BUT i don't think IE7 has anything to do with the current issue, because i wasn't using it at the time the problem occurred.

OK...thank you Sir Rabbit. i have tried it several times and it is logging me out each time now so i don't know what the problem was. If it happens again though i'll let you know!

Thank you for the help!
