Hi all,
My girlfriend and I had been using a "beginner's ball gag" for some time, one of those clear ones, but we had to retire it for two reasons:
1) It was too small to be much fun anymore, and
2) She bit right through it during one particularly intense whipping session!
Anyway, I picked up a new one, a black 2" ball gag, and it's perfect except for one thing. I tried it out myself first, as I always do, and even though I washed it a few times, it has a positively *AWFUL* rubber flavor after being left in the mouth for a few minutes. In fact, it eventually reaches the point where the chemical taste leaves a mild burning sensation in the mouth that takes a while to wash out.
Did I get a defective gag? Our first gag, which was also rubber, never had this problem. If this is normal, how does one remove the nasty flavor? It's got a fairly strong rubber odor as well, I'm wondering if maybe just leaving it out a few days/weeks will solve the problem...

Yeah, that was an interesting note...
As for rubber taste, I wouldnt know to help Y/you either except for remembering that when I was a kid I used to see people pouring Coke on tires for some reason... Did Y/you try placing the gag in a glass with Coca-cola for an hour or so? Maybe totally useless, still... here are My two cents.

Try drinking some WINE, that should do it, the wine should take the rubber taste out of your mouth

try buying a new one and do some research on the gag first. I have never had the problem but then I go for cock gags and not hard rubber ones. You may have just bought one that wasn't made for real use but a shady manufacturer or one that is supposed to taste bad for certain folks that want the gag to be an unpleasant experience.
try to avoid the harder rubbers ones they should be hardest to rid of taste go with the new flesh style material.
There's a couple of sites that spe******e in kinky rubber talk- the best I know is the IAR- International Association of Rubberists- it might be worth a look.

I'd be inclined to think if you leave it out hanging around, the chemicals will dissapate somewhat- another trick is to stick it down her/your pants for a few hours, that works with leather cuffs & so forth sometimes- something about the body oils mingling.....
My girl had this problem too, it just went away to some extent after a while.
Edit- Hmm, we seem to have some posting probs today- or maybe I'm being censored;)
Substitute s p e c i a l i s e for the first funny word, & rubberist for the second.

A dishwasher, a washing machine, or soaking it in warm soapy water and then rinsing it well usually works. Just make sure that it's clean and soap free before you use it again.

I just did some quicksearch on it and 1 recomendation was to eat a piece of fruit or something along the line of artichokes, they said one of these should get rid of the rubber taste, good luck
they also suggested boling the object in water for a minute or 2 before usng that will kill some pf the rubber taste on it, this respnse was in regard to someone who uses a black rubber mouth piece for sports and it leaves a terrible taste in their mouth when they finish, i assume the ball does the same thing

I second that tip about boiling it. I used to use a mouthguard for TKD and, in the beginning, I couldn't have it in for longer than thirty seconds before having to take it out. Someone suggested soaking it in boiling water, I did, and presto chango it worked. Didn't do much for the limited protection, because one wayward kick caused me to lose a tooth, but that's neither here nor there.

Isn't getting rid of rubber taste from rubber, a bit like getting rid of beer taste from beer?

Getting rid of the taste of beer from beer would be stupid. Getting rid of the taste of rubber is not.
