The Many-Chambered Heart

the many-chambered heart
holds secrets
holds shrines
holds mysteries and madness
room upon room
stretching to infinity

some moulder behind closed doors
shrouded with the dust of regret
scented with fading sorrow
others
stand open and inviting
filled with birdsong
and sun-warmed zephyrs.

there is a place for you
in the many-chambered heart.

choose wisely.

Words of the most wise variety. Well done.

haunting. I since a hint of sadness despite the words of hope.

elyse, I never seem to comment on your poems, I think perhaps because I am dumbstruck (and damn jealous, jeez). You are a wonderful poet, your imagery is so strong, and you have these lovely little twists (choose wisely: wry, humerous, threatening, fragile...). I so enjoy finding and reading your posts. Thank you for sharing them with us all.
