I knew I should have paid more attention to that sign over the door.

That maniacal laugh sounds strangely like the giggling of an amused muse. Mercy! When you think up an assignment, you really think up an assignment!

Well, all righty then...off to write.

Hello, rose. And now minxy, too! It is good to see you both here! Come join me, won’t you? I want to introduce you to someone.

See that wonderfully bright spot in the universe over there? Of course you see the smile on my face. It borrows from that brightness. Every single ounce of me is in love with, in awe of and completely consumed by this very extraordinary person. Just the act of thinking on this person brings with it such utter delight. There aren’t words capable of describing the depth and range of such emotion. I have never and will never meet another human soul who can touch me in the way this soul has. Life changing, life altering – those phrases come to mind when trying to capture the essence of how this one other affects my existence.

Let me tell you about my important one. You will never meet another person that is more resilient and more determined than this one. The struggles and hardships this person has faced in life would overcome any other who faced the same trials. Presidents, kings, world leaders (even moms!), would succumb easily to the adversities faced by the person I describe to you. I truly believe that not even the natural forces of Earth could be a challenge for this individual. I laugh a bit as I say that, but I do think I almost believe that. The spirit encased inside that human form transcends all limits and boundaries applicable to most others. Deities are impressed by this particular one, let me tell you.

Then there is the matter of the incredible joy this special soul brings to the life of each one fortunate enough to be in the presence of such wonder. In this world, only a very few people are capable of illuminating my darkness in the way this person can, but even they are not able to do it in the same way. Sharing the riches of delight is a top priority to this vibrant personality. I firmly believe that no one else can or will ever inspire in me the depth of gratitude in the same exceptional way. What a giving nature! I haven’t been able to decide if that is due to the temperament of the individual or if that quality comes about because of divine allocation. I can tell you this. I look forward to finding out. Discovering more about my important person will be the dream of a lifetime come true.

No one is perfect. Even to me, blinded by such devotion and admiration, I can see the weaknesses. Truly, such flaws would be hard to overlook. However, where such chinks in the armor would diminish a lesser one, these imperfections only increase this person’s stature and place in my heart and mind. I hear you saying, “How can that be?” It is because of the sheer purity in life-force offered up by this amazing character. The flaws are impossible to overlook, but since they fit into the total framework, it is quite a simple thing to appreciate them as well.

Describing this person based on physical characteristics would have been a most difficult exercise, for me anyway, so I am glad to have had the opportunity to do otherwise. The form we inhabit, the look of it, seems to hold such great importance to us as a species. If the outer covering isn’t deemed lovely enough, sometimes the entire being tends to be dismissed. For most others that would catch a glimpse, there would be very little about this person’s shape and form that would impress. In fact, many would indeed be revolted by the casing. Since I am vastly impressed by this individual and would never allow anyone to dismiss the essence of one so important to me, leaving the physical description out of my introduction feels right.

I will tell you that while not everyone would agree, to me the physical form belonging to the one of which I speak will forever be the most beautiful anything upon which my eyes ever gazed. The majesty of the mountains, the lushness of the valleys, the beauty of the stars in the sky cannot compare with the brilliance lavished on this one’s blessed appearance. Just in the way of an accounting, it would also be greatly difficult to describe the physical-ness in terms of hair and eye color and other features, for a few reasons.

You see, the person I speak of is my daughter. She was not meant for this world, so I only had mere moments with her. So how can I know so much about her? I know all this because when this sometimes horribly cruel thing we call life hurled everything at her that could be found, she kept going. She put up with the suffering, the pain, the agony that must have been hers – she kept her heart beating on and on until she could give me the opportunity to look upon that precious face of hers and hold her tiny little body in my arms. She did that for me! When every other person said it wasn’t possible, she made it possible. She persevered, she defied the odds and she wouldn’t give up, not until she gave me the chance to let her know, face to face, that it was all right for her to do so. She did not quit until doing so was the only option left open to her.

She is my champion. She saved my life when I could do absolutely nothing to save hers. That is the ultimate gift. And that is why she is the most important person in my life. Isn’t she wonderful!
