By letting your mouse hover over the "Quick reply" button it shows that using "Alt S" should post the reply. This is not working for me no matter which computer I use. It used to work but no longer does. Does it work for anyone else?

testing the thought
Ok... in firefox it didn't work... in explorer it did....
Not sure that truly answers the questions but at least we now know that is one difference (at least on my computer... lol.)

I have IE 6 which is continually being updated. Maybe one of the latest security patches made it no longer function. It is not only just in this forum that Alt S doesn't work either.

Thanks I thought that may be the case. I'm just not ready for IE 7 yet. Still read too many bad things about it in some cases.

Nope didn't work, damn it. Gotta be some reason because it used to work now it does not on any of my computers. I'm sure it must be some security update that cause the problem.
Thanks again for looking.

well really, i know you are wary about upgrading to IE7 but i haven't had any problems with it at all since i upgraded and i was even bold enough to try it out when it was still in it's beta version.
perhaps that might help? it's not really that different. it's a lot like FF now (i dunno if you've ever used FF) the main difference from IE7 and older versions is the tabbed browsing which i find very useful.

I just wrote a buddy of mine who does a ton of beta testing for MS. I'll see what he has to say about it. I already have the Tabbed option with my IE 6 and I agree I like it a lot.

if it used to work and now it does not ---then it may be a security setting that was updated ----I had one security setting that changed my browser ---that did not let new pages update ----so I keep seeing what the last page I viewed was ----so when I published new stories on the story page they did not appear to me -----had to call tech support for my browser ---and they told me to check some setting ---I did and that was the problem
I have been using IE7 since it came out in Beta testing ---and it works great ---for IE---but I use firefox most of the time ---I do like it better

Thanks Rabbit1 and I saw the PM too. I can't find a thing different or anything blocking it as far as my firewall is concerned. I don't see any security settings that have changed either but could be I'm not looking in the right places.

There has to be some common cause. I wish I could find it. Installing IE 7 sure didn't help.

and you would think the Forum God would know ----Have you tried turning off your fire wall and trying it?----if it works without your fire wall on then it is a security setting it the firewall

Yes I have tried that and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just leave the site or sometimes it times out when I am reading a lengthy post. I can try logging out and see if that makes a difference. I'll report back when I try it.
