Dropping ungracefully to her knees was the better option than being knocked off her feet again. Besides she barely had the strength to stand on her own any more. After the last several hours showing him grace and ease were the least of her concerns. Hitting the stone floor hard, her head bowed forward slightly. Dark hair fell into her face. It was not meant as a sign of submission, rather she was trying to conserve what strength she had left. Most of her remaining strength was focused on staying in an up right position.
The sound of footsteps on the hard floor were not enough cause for her to look up. Touching her was not a requirement to hurt her. At this point she doubted he would be stupid enough to get within arms reach so soon. He seemed to understand with as weak as she currently was contact was necessary on her part to perform a counter spell. He was powerful but she had shown him a couple spells that he had only imagined possible in his wildest nightmares. They had not been enough to level the playing field but breaking them had still cost him dearly.
Feeling the magick creep across the stone towards her she was powerless to stop it. There was no where to run and no strength left to block it. All she could do was try not to give in to panic. This was going to hurt.... again... It seemed as if he was playing with her now. At first he had tried his best to force her body to shift. Now he was not even giving it a real effort. Instead he said the necessary chant and let her fight against the spell instead of his own will power. It caused her just as much pain and allowed him to relax and watch the show.
Kestrel knew how to break the spell. Unfortunately the one thing she needed, his blood, was constantly out of her reach. She had plenty of her own blood. In fact her body had been so beaten and broken that she still had wounds that were bleeding. Her body had healed so much of the damage already but her natural abilities had slowed down hours ago. To break his hold on her she needed his blood and a little strength. Neither were going to be easy to get.
Feeling him twisting the magick, her body started to respond. She fought the change that tried to come over her. Refusing to allow him to humiliate her in such a way she struggled against what her body currently thought was natural. Besides he had chosen another form that was lost to her. He could not force her body to change, just make it really hurt. The mage knew what he was doing.
Most of the current damage was internal. Torn muscle and tissue from resisting as he tried to to change her shape over and over again. Eventually the pain subsided as it had done dozens of times before. Her entire body ached. Evidence of the knife play earlier had long disappeared into new pink scars. Those would fade with time, if she lived that long. His interest in her unlikely meant her death any time soon, even if death was possible. She was not completely convinced she could die although she was starting to find that little fact annoying.
The pain never really left but it became more tolerable so that she could focus on the room around her. The look on his body showed he was still amused by this game. Her body shuddered violently for a moment. If it did not show such weakness she would have considered curled up in a ball on the floor. Taking a deep breath she attempted to calm her voice.
