How did you decide on the title you use with your Dom

So titles have always been an issue for me within D/s relationships. I don't like to call someone master unless I have been with them a really long time, I have spent so long working in customer service that calling someone Sir as sort of lost all of its meaning, and I am really torn on Daddy.

I just started a new relationship, and things are going great but in a scene he likes to be addressed by a title. We both agree master is a bit much and I explained why I use Sir I feel a little silly, so he suggested Daddy. I have never called anyone that before and I am totally torn on if I want to use it or not. There is something nice and comforting and safe feeling about it, and I like that. I don't do daddy/daughter role-play type things. What title we are going to use has been totally left to my decision, whatever makes me the most comfortable, but I am really stuck. So I was hoping maybe you could share how you chose what title you use.

If you think "Master" is a bit too much at this stage, I'm presuming alternatives like "My Lord" or "Your Lordship" would be equally over-stretching it (or worse). On the other end of the scale, other "normal" forms of address to a superior such as "Boss" or "Chief" may sound tacky in a bdsm environment. Even though you feel a silly calling people Sir, a compromise may lie in qualifying it: "Kind Sir" or even "Dear Sir" - assuming your Dom doesn't object to being called kind! Last suggestion along those lines is possibly try "My Sir" - which to me conveys the feeling that He is special to you. As a random extra thought if either of you speak a foreign language the equivalent term in that language may feel good.

That's a good thought. You might also find some examples in adventure or fantasy stories.

I use Master because it's the only title that really suits us. I'd be very uncomfortable with saying Daddy, and Sir seems well, more military. That's just me though. "Boss" is one that some use.

I use all 3 that you mentioned. It's "Daddy" when we're texting or fucking. It's "Master" or "sir" around the house. I call him by his name in public. "Daddy" is kind of informal compared to the others, and since I'm not on high protocol while texting or fucking, that's what I use. lol

<< uses what ever the dominant partner of the relationship decides we are using and that is that, lol.

My lover/Master and I are both in the SCA-medieval recreation-so My Lord fits for us; I don't know how awkward that would be for you. I also often call him Beloved, because he is that, whether we are having a vanilla night, he is topping, or we are playing switch for a bit. As 'Dog' is part of one of his nicknames, he actually had me use his legal first name for a while--he wanted to be sure that we both knew who I was playing with. (In Carrie's Story by Molly Weatherfield, the Domme always has Carrie use his first name, so there is some precedent, if only fictional.)

i call my Dom Princess, but that probably won't work out well for you, ROFL!!!

After feeling things out a bit more in our relationship we decided on Master. Guess I am a little 'traditional' lol.
