I never really let you go.
I lost you for a hope
Hope that a broken promise would be unbroken.

Seeing you again brought it all back.
What we had
What we were.
What we could have been.

I didn't know what I was giving up
But by time I did you were gone.
having chosen another.
Loving someone who isn't me.

And I was left alone
with a memory
A dream
and the broken promise of a dead man.
