BEAST

You haunt me still
with Your dark eyes
with Your dark need.

i came to You at sunset
You claimed me by firelight
and again
by starlight.

You feasted on my sighs
devoured my whimpers
and slaked Your thirst
with my tears.

You paraded Your plundered prize
before an unseeing world
in the cold night air
and i trembled
at Your whispered commands
and Your glowing gaze.

In the end
Your beautiful, terrible hunger
was too great
for this small morsel
to appease.

i know this.

But You haunt me still.
