I'm obviously too late technically to be a one-day wonder, but I don't really expect to be making any posts here other than this one, nor will I probably be visiting here particularly regularly, so I figured I'd write this. Given that the community is into the whole "SSC" thing, whereas I like stories which almost exclusively fall into the realm of unsafe/insane/nonconsensual and are only marginally related to BDSM, I concluded that this place probably isn't the best fit for me after all.
I also find a kind of mismatch between the stories and the forums, chat,..., culture of the site.
Big fan of this site for years and beginning to experiment in a personal relationship and just curious about the opinions and expericences of other newbies.
I joined because I was looking for a place BDSM oriented, but not so strictly formal as to not allow a few laughs. I find that the Lifestyle online can be a bit too formal, though prople in r/l groups are often as funny as they are Dedicated to the Lifestyle...This forum seems to fit the bill pretty well.

The reason i joined was to learn. i also was told that you guys have some really cool members. so figured i would come say hi.
I joined because it seems like one of the saner, most inclusive bdsm communities on the internet. BDSM is one of those "niche" things that I don't get to experience at the moment in my everyday life. Ya'll provide a moment of sanity, believe it or not, where I can be free to be very much myself in a world that usually looks at me askance and with wide, grossed out eyes when I even hint that BDSM-y things interest me, turn me on, or intrigue me.
So that's why I joined. :) Why I STAY could be something completely different!
I joined because I had an upbringing that really, really doesn't match the kind of personality I have, especially in the bedroom, so joining to chat and such is a way to get the kinks out, so to speak. Cheaper than therapy! lol
Actually, that's only part of it. Another reason why I'm here is because I love to write, and wanted to explore that here. So hi, everybody.

I started out just reading the stories. I love to read and found there just wasn't enough of what I wanted in most of the books you buy at the local bookstore. On this site however I kept finding things that turned me on.
I kept coming back because I was finally around people who wouldn't think I was a freak considering what turns me on. Plus there is always something around here that gets me hot!!!
I joined this forum and have kept coming back as I'd read quite a few of the posts and I could see the kindness displayed when questions were asked. I have an account with another site and there have been times where I've wanted to ask questions or respond to a post, however, I didn't as some of the more "seasoned" lifestyle folks were often rude or ridiculed an honest question. I haven't seen that here and it's very refreshing. You guys are great.

I was one of the people who popped in for a week or so and then vanished. I came back because... well, I found a forum that I love, but where I don't feel comfortable discussing this aspect of my life. It made me realize that I do enjoy this medium again (and it's taken a lot of time) and that I need someplace to stretch my legs out, so to speak. It's entirely possible that I'll flake out and forget to check in for a time again, but for now, I am really enjoying being here. I love the feel of community, and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.
I became a member of the Library and the Academy because I want to learn about and explore not only my ingrained role as a dominant but also the sublime state of submission from the submissives who are courageous enough to lay their emotions and their souls bare to the rest of us. This is a gift I value highly and I will endeavor never to take it for granted.
I've enjoyed wandering through the forums and being exposed to different ideas and viewpoints. I expect to participate more fully as time allows. A genuine need to explore my own boundaries brought me to the internet to research the BDSM lifestyle about three years ago. This is the only site, besides BDSM Cafe, that I regularly returned to for more information. I decided that I needed to participate in order to learn more about dominance and submission - reading is fun, but 'book-learning' only gets one so far.
