Seems to me IQ tests just show your ability to answer particular questions at the time of testing. But that's all any kind of exam or test can do. It's an indication only. I suspect it's as good a measure as anything.

The only IQ tests I've done are on the internet. I know I did well, because they told me I was a genius and wanted me to spend $50 on a full report. I declined.

I don't know my score, so I didn't vote, but the debates here are more fun than in other places.

Can't we just establish that we are smarter, better and cooler than all the rest? :) I agree that IQ tests are a insufficient means to measure ones intelligence...especially as there are so many different types of intelligence that those tests completely ignore (emotional or social intelligence, for example). It strikes me, however, that BDSM people seem to be rather well educated, smart and in general thinking and reflecting a lot...I do believe that there is some kind of connection between intelligence (in its widest sense) and an inclination towards BDSM...but that might just be my vanity ;)

I guess, whether we are more intelligent than average, average, or below average, we understand ourselves and what makes us tick a bit better than those who have never had to think about it.

I don't buy that intelligence is involved.
I've seen some Doms and some subs make some pretty unintelligent moves, big mistakes in judgement; Not very good for showing their intelligence level.
The artistic and creative idea seems logical though.
I think it's more of a taste as in what one likes.
and I think the use of the term "Lifestyle" is so overused and overrated.

IQ tests shows how good you are at answering a particular type of questions in a particular way and I dont normally do well under those circumstances.

I am not that interested in knowing how intelligent I am either cause I know that I am smart enough. Guess that is down to self confidence though.

i seem to recall there has been a study done and it found that BDSM people are often smarter than average. which makes perfect sense to me- BDSM/DS is about the mind. gotta have one in order to enjoy stimulating it.

i do agree about people tending to want to prove their niche is the best and the coolest, etc, but wanting to believe it doesnt change what is or isnt true. the tendancy to slant that way doesnt make it false. i think our lot is smarter as a whole (though that's gone down a bit as we've become more main stream). but then who says being the smartest is the same as being the best? there are quirks and disadvantages that can come with being smarter than most. and to be smarter than the average person is not to say that the average person is worse or stupid or perhaps even superior in some other way.

anyways, my disability is not in my intelligence but my good days and bad days effect the overall functionality of my brain as an organ... so where that leaves me on a given day IQ wise is anybody's guess *wry smile*. ive had a whole range of test scores, most of them unofficial. i was mildly horrified to get 100 once, but i was very unwell that day *L*. on my most recent casual one i think i got 129. ive not had the proper administered by the shrink sort that i recall (i have memory problems so who knows. maybe when i was a kid?) but i did take a test that was purchased and i believe that was the same test as the written part of official one it just didnt count without the official to give it. i got a 140 on that one. i got a 160 on one once, which i think was the official one too but i cant remember the circumstances for that one, so... *shrug*.

so im not sure how to answer the poll in that case as mine werent given by mensa or a shrink which i believe are the only fully official ones so... pass, but theres my ramblings anyways *Smile*
