If it's your thing, do it. If it isn't, don't do it. Just remember, it's kind of like having unprotected sex with a number of different partners. Sooner or later something may happen.
That being said..there was something my son's pediatrician told me when he started potty training and started thinking it was okay to poop in the tub. 'We're all colonized by bacteria. However, you can't colonize yourself.' If you must indulge in this kind of play, I think it would make sense to have one eat one's own solid waste. Dogs do it. I have a Shih Tzu who does it all the time. After all, what's coming out of your insides will just go back into your insides; nothing different there. I think that would probably be safer. (Don't quote me on that! I'm not a doctor!!)
Personally, the idea disgusts me. However, to each his own (and oh, my son has stopped pooping in the tub. Good thing too, it was clogging the drains!)
